HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. – A wire-to-wire victory by the 35-1 Forest Gator provided a shocking ending to a record-setting Rainbow 6 on Sunday at Gulfstream Park that returned $15,566.10 for those who selected all six winners in the sequence.  Sunday’s mandatory payout began with a carryover of $3,991,011 after the Rainbow 6 had gone 39 consecutive programs without being hit. A total of $15,788,224 was added to the pool Sunday, eclipsing the old single-day mark of $10,782,375 wagered with a $4.5 million carryover on March 26, 2016. The total pool of $19,779,255 also shattered the old mark of $15,285,707 established the same day. The carryover jackpot is paid out only when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. When there is a mandatory payout scheduled, as was the case Sunday, the entire pool is shared by those holding tickets with the most winners. The winning sequence on Sunday began with Madame Uno ($11.80) and was followed by Nootka Sound ($10.60), Dreaming of Jo Jo ($5.60), First Distinction ($3.80) and Stormymeister ($8.40) before concluding with Forest Gator, who defeated 13 rivals. The nearly $16 million wagered on the Rainbow 6 contributed to total handle of more than $28 million on Sunday’s card and came one day after the Pegasus World Cup program established a non-Breeders’ Cup card track record of $41.9 million.
