Uncle Mo to arrive in New York a day late

Uncle Mo’s arrival in New York for Saturday's Wood Memorial will be delayed.

The Tex Sutton flight expected to bring Uncle Mo - and 19 other horses - from south Florida to New York on Tuesday was canceled due to weather issues. The flight has been rescheduled for Wednesday.

According to Larry Ulrich of Tex Sutton, severe thunderstorms were forecast for the New York area most of the day. Ulrich said there was some talk about delaying the 8 a.m. flight to later in the day, but that storms were also forecast for south Florida Tuesday afternoon.

"The logical thing to do is move the flight back 24 hours when the weather is clear," Ulrich said. "Nobody wants to jeopardize the horses."

Other horses expected on the flight include Apriority and Morning Line, both of whom are to run in Saturday’s Grade 1 Carter at Aqueduct.
