Successful Appeal filly fastest worker at Fasig-Tipton Midlantic preview


A Successful Appeal filly who worked a furlong in 9.8 seconds was the day’s fastest worker at that distance Wednesday at Fasig-Tipton Midlantic’s first under-tack preview for the upcoming May juvenile sale.

The filly, a bay half-sister to Grade 3 winner Meadow Gem and from Kelly Kip’s family, is cataloged as Hip No. 63 at the May 21-22 auction at Timonium in Maryland.

Three juveniles put up the fastest quarter-mile time of 21.6 seconds. They were Hip No. 6, a Yes It’s True colt out of Lady Chip from the family of Z Humor; Hip No. 22, an Empire Maker filly out of Limes ’n Lemons who is a half-sister to stakes-placed Lemons of Love; and Hip No. 76, an Officer colt out of Ms. C D Player who is a full brother to Grade 2-placed stakes winner Officer Ipod.

The day’s quickest 2-year-old over three furlongs was Hip No. 234, a Henny Hughes daughter of Tacticmove from the family of Strategic Maneuver. The bay filly covered three-eighths in 33.6 seconds.

The second under-tack show was to take place Thursday at 9:30 a.m.
