Santa Anita: Reneesgotzip pointed for Acorn

ARCADIA, Calif. - Reneesgotzip, second in two Grade 1 stakes for 3-year-olds fillies this spring - the Las Virgenes and Santa Anita Oaks - will not start in the Kentucky Oaks at Churchill Downs on May 4 and will be pointed for the $300,000 Acorn Stakes on May 28 at Belmont Park, trainer Peter Miller said.

Miller said that Reneesgotzip will be kept to races around one turn this year, with the Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Sprint at Santa Anita on Nov. 2 as a long-term goal. Both the Las Virgenes over a mile and the Santa Anita Oaks over 1 1/16 miles were around two turns.

"We're going to concentrate on the one-turn races," Miller said. "The Acorn is the short-term goal. There is a chance I might run her before.
She's a good router, but she's a great sprinter."

Reneesgotzip won the Grade 2 Santa Ynez Stakes for 3-year-old fillies at Santa Anita in January.

The Miller-trained Majestic City, the winner of two sprint stakes last summer, has resumed training. Friday, Majestic City worked three furlongs in 36.80 seconds at Hollywood Park, his first workout of the year.

Owned by Jeff Bloom, Majestic City finished 10th in the Grade 1 CashCall Futurity at Hollywood Park in December. Following that race, Majestic City underwent surgery to have a bone chip removed from an ankle, Miller said.
