ARCADIA, Calif. – Princess Arabella won a $58,000 allowance race with such ease Sunday that trainer Bob Baffert compared it to a morning exercise. “That was a good work, huh?” Baffert asked jockey Martin Garcia in the winner’s circle. Garcia guided Princess Arabella to a win by 3 1/2 lengths in the allowance race over seven furlongs. The win left Princess Arabella unbeaten in two starts, preceded by a maiden race win by the same margin here Dec. 31. Princess Arabella ($2.20) was a massive favorite against four rivals Sunday and was timed in 1:22.22. “This was perfect,” Baffert said. “She got something out of it. I think she’s something special.” Princess Arabella attracted $188,414 of the $217,927 bet to show in the race, creating a minus show pool of $33,660. Owned by Peachtree Stable, Princess Arabella is by Any Given Saturday. Baffert said that Princess Arabella is bound for Grade 1 stakes for her next start, but was not specific about which races. There are two such options in that category in coming months at Santa Anita – the $250,000 Las Virgenes Stakes over a mile on March 3 and the $300,000 Santa Anita Oaks over 1 1/16 miles on March 31.
