A bruised foot will prevent Demonic from making his stakes debut in the $300,000 San Felipe Stakes on March 9 at Santa Anita, trainer John Sadler said.
The Grade 2 San Felipe Stakes is run over 1 1/16 miles and is a key prep for the $750,000 Santa Anita Derby on April 6.

Sadler said that he has no specific plans for Demonic this spring.
“He’ll miss the San Felipe,” Sadler said. “I’m not sure what we’ll do, but he’ll be fine.”
A maiden race winner over seven furlongs in his only start on Jan. 13, Demonic has missed training time in the last week. Owned by Lee and Susan Searing, Demonic is by Bernardini. The colt was purchased for $400,000 at the 2011 Keeneland September yearling sale and is considered Sadler’s top 3-year-old prospect.

the injury could be a blessing. his daddy was bernardini who did not run on lasix as a 2 year old. bernardini really started to blossom just before the derby. then he started winning grade 1 races with great ease. 2006 was a great year. discreet cat was winning by huge margins also. he used lasix just one time when he was 2. invasor did not start running until he was 3 years old. what a display he put on for us in the later half of 2006. so maybe the time off will really help demonic. i dont understand why trainers are in such a big hurry with their youngsters. these 3 examples tells ya, that patience pays off.

Another ill-named thoroughbred whose illustrious pedigree suggests nothing of this moniker.

Bummer, this is a nice colt. Hopefully he makes it back to the races sooner than later.

Damn, was "licking-my-chops" on 60-1 future I had on him.
Where do you think he will resurface. Gonna be really tough now to picture him gaining enough points to make the Derby, granted that he heals fast.

MOST HAPPY FELLA, reclaimed from last, drops to easier spot after setting pressured pace vs. odds-on Pinball; both wins last year came on this track. ARTIE LUVSTO PARTY has a knack for surprises, with three lifetime wins coming at 33-1, 17-1 & 11-1 (two on this track); entrymate EQUIVOCATION gets major rider switch first off a claim. PURE ATTITUDE among top 3 in wins & earnings and snug fit to date clause.
