Race 2

Dancinginthestreet
Brief threat when between foes to kick if off; Grade 3 winning dam took debut at 2, went 5 for 14 after; several multiple race winners in the family including juvenile winner and near $350K earner Free Brave; must pick it up.
Hitchslap
Tiznow about 11% first-time juveniles in a 298-runner survey; sire did not race at 2, earned over $6.4 million as a double BC Classic hero; dam was unraced; the sibling that won once did so in bow at 2; could need a race.
As Rulers Go
Roman Ruler about 13% first-time juveniles in a 134-runner survey; sire took debut at 2, won the Haskell; G3 winning 9 for 19 dam didn't go at 2, earned nearly $400K; several multiple race winners in tree including juvenile debut winner, multiple G1 winner and over $1.4 million earner Switch; she's live.
Feel the Charge
Mr. Greeley has won with about 10% of his juvenile first-timers in a 383-horse sample; sire won third start at 2, took multiple Grade 3s; 1 for 7 dam won at 2; lone half sis cashed once as older horse; like fact she drilled this far.
Total War
War Pass 4 for 31 with juvenile debuters; sire was unbeaten in 4 juvenile outs including BC Juvenile; 2 for 5 dam cashed twice at 2; 5 of 6 siblings won; a couple cashed at 2 including The Pamplemousse, an over $200K earner; nice move on 15th for clever barn.
Dublin Dancer
Thewayyouare 0 for 6 with debuting juveniles; sire was a Group 1 winner at 2, earned nearly $350K in 9 outs; dam was unraced; this is her first to roll; may need softer to shine.
Sheza Smoke Show
Wilco 1 for 32 with debuting juveniles; sire won at 2 in the BC Juvenile, banked over $2.3 million; SW dam took debut at 2, went 2 for 10 after; both sibs won, neither at 2, one banked almost $100K; blowout Wednesday should have her on her toes.
Southern Sunshine
Bobbled in last when probably just overmatched; dam was unraced; top sibling Den's Legacy won twice at 2, took a G3, earned over $450K; drawn right, look out.
Miss Personality
Broken Vow about 11% first-time juveniles in a 330-runner survey; sire didn't go at 2, took multiple Graded stakes; dam took 3 sprints as older horse; lone half bro lost 6 times; drill on the 13th screams off the page.

Race 4

Bluegrass Girls
Was screaming out for more distance in the debut and gets it here; she has not raced past 5.5F yet; sire took the Grade 1 Haskell at 9F on dirt; is out of an unraced dam who produced 1-for-6 dirt-router Grade 3-placed Z Dager (101K).
Marina Del Heat
Lost the rider when stretching out for the 1st time and is back on dirt where she defeated 3 runners combined in 2 defeats; 31-day layoff for a 7%-winning fresh trainer since 2012; the 2-back show runner graduated next out in an SR-20K-maiden claimer with a 63 Beyer.
Reclusive
Has not raced past 7F yet; sire captured G1 stakes in dirt routes; is out of a stakes-placed dam (2-for-10, 58K) who only raced on grass and never past 6.5F; she produced 2-for-3 dirt router Jerdan Hill (11K); stays on dirt but best workout was on a synthetic surface; debut show runner graduated next out in a BSR-20K-maiden claimer with a 69 Beyer.
Somewhere Secret
Has not raced past 5.5F yet; sire went 0-for-2 in dirt routes; is the 1st foal from the dam who went unraced; defeated 2 runners from 2 synthetic sprints with much to prove off the 53-day absence; wish the 3F workout for this was snappier.
Classic Candy
Adds blinkers for the 1st time while adding distance after setting the pace going short ; she is the one to catch here; did not see much stamina in the turf Miles earlier this year the added ground here is a serious concern; 28%-winning SA-jockey-trainer combo is a plus; know him early but unsure about late.
Lethal Miss
Plenty of time between races and now gets dirt for the 1st time off the 43-day layoff; defeated the show runner from last who Beyered 63 in her next-out BSR-20K-maiden claiming win; in latest appeared to be screaming out for more distance and gets it here.
Tony's Pinguini's
Has not raced past 6F yet posting a career-best Beyer in last at 4.5F shorter than this; her sire took 6 stakes winning 4-of-13 dirt routes (350K); the 0-for-5 dam (13K) did not race past 6F; she produced 1-for-2 dirt-router Luisathebeachhouse (12K).
Top Knot
Odds-on runner-up finisher in this same spot at longer; she showed 2-back she can sit right off the speed if needed and figures to be a major player from bell to finish here; clearly the blinkers have given her greater speed from the gate.
Visions of Candy
The winner and show runners from last Beyered 80-65 in next-out DMR-starter alw. and 40K-maiden claiming wins; has not raced past 6.5F yet; sire took the G1 Pacific Classic on dirt at 10F; is out of a 2-for-7 dirt-route dam (52K) who produced 1-for-1 dirt-router Yankee Visionary.
Chantal's Girl
Has not raced past 7.5F yet; sire did not race past 6F; dam went 2-0-0-0 in dirt routes producing 1-for-3 dirt-router Ata Gulch (12K); 11-week absence after unable to sustain her rally and raced back with front wraps on in last which is not a good-win angle.
Little Unusual
Field-best Beyer in an SA-turf sprint; just 1 race on dirt was on a wet-main track where she was a non factor posting one of the lowest speed figure of her career; rallied well on DMR synthetic in latest for a 7%-winning fresh trainer since 2012.
Kevin's Kool Kat
Has not raced past 7F yet; sire only raced on grass; 5 of his 6 wins were posted in races at 1 Mile or longer; is the 1st foal out of a 1-for-4 dirt-route dam (18K); wish she showed more on SA dirt in September; 51-day absence for a 22%-winning fresh trainer although wish the SA workouts were snappier off the bench.
Consent
60 days since tiring at shorter; she has not raced past 6.5F yet; G2 sire captured 5-of-20 dirt routes (745K); she is out of a 7-for-33 dirt-route dam (36K) who produced 33K-dirt router Music for the Soul (9-for-38); the 3-back winner repeated in a BHP-16K claimer with a 58 Beyer.

Race 5

Tom's Tribute
Tough to knock anything that this colt has done through his first four starts and he's out of a stakes placed dam who won 5 of 23 turf starts for 96k; third place finisher from latest won next out at Dmr on 9/4 going 1 1/16m over turf vs. 40k OPC's with a 91 Beyer.
Little Jerry
His career best Beyer Speed Figure was earned racing over a synthetic surface but he's stakes placed over turf and his best effort is eligible to get him into the mix against these; he loses the services of Smith to another in here, but like to see that he attracts another top rider in Gomez.
Spring Up
Sire has won with 14 of 70 (20%) turf starters and dam was a G2 winner racing in Brazil while winning 4 of 11 starts for 64k, and she won once from six turf starts in North America for 49k; maybe he'll agree with the move to turf, but prefer to lean toward others.
Cacau
He's likely going to be involved in the running through the opening stages, but the early pace in here doesn't figure to be slow, and he is going to need a career best effort to get the better of this field.
Quiet Force
Nicely bred colt is out of a G3 winning dam who won 5 of 20 starts for 435k, including 3 of 11 turf starts for 239, and he's two-for-two in the quality start department to begin his career; Bejarano has own with 5 of 13 (38%) mounts for this barn in 2013; have to respect his chances.
Rangi (GB)
It looks like his form racing overseas was so-so at best and it would've been nice to have seen him show more in his first start in America in his latest outing; Maldonado has won with 11 of 48 (23%) mounts for this barn in 2013.
Horizontalyspeakin
He saw his form improve when blinkers were removed two races back and he merits contender status based on what he's shown in those two starts; that said, he does need to be careful to avoid an early pace confrontation.
Uncle Dick
Like the gradual improvement he's shown since breaking his maiden at second asking and he's another in here who is likely going to be involved in the running through the opening stages; this barn is having a strong year, but they haven't been doing their best work with recent turf starters.
Dirty Swagg
He earned a stakes placing as a 2-year-old, but since that time his form hasn't been anywhere near strong enough to give him a competitive look in this spot, and that includes his three most recent races over turf; 3rd finisher from latest won next out at GG on 8/31 going 1 1/16m vs. 50k OPC's with a 74 Beyer.
Heir of Storm
Respect Wildcat Heir as a turf sire, but this colt is going to need to show more than he did in his turf debut in his latest outing if he's planning on putting any pressure on the top contenders in this spot.

Race 6

Humor Me
Set a respectable early pace in her first route attempt and the latest workout (and trainer's record in this category) suggests that this can be a successful turnback; had a legit excuse in her loss to Wasted at Midnight in July.
Tappingintherain
Made 2 moves before fading in her first try on the green; previous effort was dead game and the workout regimen during the last 2 weeks is superior; will likely prove dangerous if able to get away unchallenged in early stages.
Wasted At Midnight
Disappointed a month ago while favored after a very encouraging effort the time before; not sure if there is an adequate pace set-up here and she certainly does not warrant a similar short price; difficult call.
Pearl de Vere
She has earned decent checks at various distances and over various tracks; compromised by a wide post and trip in her last assignment, she was brave to capture the place; local work tab, however, is only moderate.
Miss Charming
Flashed decent stalking power in her only run before making an inside move; her sire won a G1 and 591K while the dam involved won 5 of 19 and 224K; among the winning siblings is G1 turf star Tout Charmant, winner of 1.78 million.
Teacher Teacher
Gets rid of the blinkers after respectable comeback try from a difficult outpost; although there are huge gaps in the profile, the mare did face some fine opposition in the first 2 races of her career (including multiple G2 winner Tiz Flirtatious); more tightening is likely required though.
The Magic Stone
The blinker addition did not really matter last time as she was caught extremely wide; most recent a.m. move was an improvement yet it is hard to envision her working out an ideal journey here regardless of how the pace unfolds; pass for now.
Hollywood Icon
A consistent set of a.m. drills along the comeback trail for this lass; her sire won multiple G1s and 1.54 million; the dam won 3 of 6 and 166K; winning siblings include 63K earner Miner's Delight; expert trainer/jockey combination a plus.
Siena Grace
Displayed decent early speed before tiring in her maiden voyage, a race hat turned out to be key; her sire won a G1 and 1.02 million; the dam won 3 of 16 attempts and 142K; this is her only foal to compete

Race 7

She's a Go Girl
Wonder if that Turf Paradise win just zapped here?; she had to hit the bench and has just stopped badly since; trainer has spotted them just fine all year and miss obviously has the zip to flee the rail; you just get the feeling if she is looked in the eye, she'll blink.
Pat's Back
It was against tougher, but she stopped badly the last time in town; connections resisted going to Pomona and the Inglewood drills are decent since the last win; Gomez sticks, slight improvement and she'll be in the thick of it.
Warren's Sugarbuzz
A closing 5th the last time for this price; signs of life last time vs. softer, why not just find a spot like that, try to cash and move on?; miss was over 5 clear last time, the hotter the pace the better for her in the long run.
Song of a Witch
This is her venue and the drop is logical the way she has been performing; not sure what to make of the drill on the 21st; 55 and 36-1 in the wins; miss needs very best.
Bas
Must prove she can win sprinting; show horse 8/14 clicked next out in an $8K claimer, then was 2nd a nose in a $12.5K claimer 9 days ago at Pomona; this pilot was up for both scores but with this gal's style, things will have to break just right.
Anita Marie
Respect her consistency; overmatched two back, she lost a heart breaker in last but has Pebble to deal with right back; at last she got a feel of the surface last week, finally off the rail and the drop can't hurt; legit player.
Funny Gal
Wonder if connections were less that thrilled with what they had after getting her back in the stall after the winter claim?; return drills well spaced and miss does fire more often than not; try to get a good look at her on the track.
Magestic Stinger
Under purchase for the first time; hung wide in last and note she was inching toward the winner in the August race; with 2 races under the belt, the good draw and a nice stalk and pounce style, this miss could be a handful today.
Pebble Beach Baby
Off slow and then wide in the Del Mar efforts; game in the win last time but would have liked to have seen a local work; miss fits in the Beyer department, repeat well within the scope.
Sultry Season
Miss overcame trouble for the last win; toss the Del Mar race as she broke through the gate; key off the July win against higher-priced foes and she is a legit player; contention goes deep in a good betting affair.

Race 8

Teaks North
Multiple Grade 1 winner should have every opportunity to sit a comfortable trip after breaking from the rail post and it is interesting to see him show up for this after being claimed for 100k from his latest start; winner from latest was scheduled to run in a G1 at Belmont Park Saturday.
Holding Glory (BRZ)
He's a very interesting player in this spot as he gets ready to make his first start over turf since arriving in America, and based on what he's shown in his two starts in the States, he has a lot of ability to work with; can't help but respect his chances with Smith taking over.
Kettle Corn
It's fair to wonder if this multiple graded stakes winner is capable of being as sharp over turf as he is over synthetic surfaces but it's not like his turf form his been bad; Espinoza pilots the other Sadler trainee in here, but Bejarano has won with 20 of 65 (31%) mounts for this barn in 2013, and he was aboard for a Beyer Speed Figure top three races back.
Indy Point (ARG)
He was a very sharp winner in his first start in America two races ago and prefer to rate his chances in this spot based on that performance rather than the effort he showed up with in the Arlington Million in his latest start; he commands his share of respect with Stevens aboard.
Soi Phet
He's been razor sharp since moving into this barn after a 16k claim but this is an extremely difficult step up in class, and not only does his best race appear to be short of the mark of what it will take to win this, but he has to prove that he can be as best over turf.
Tale of a Champion
Have to respect the effort he showed up with when last seen while recording a G2 victory, and it's interesting to note that was his first start at today's 1 1/4m distance; maybe the time off he's needed since that race can be viewed in a negative light, but not willing to count him out of it.
Affrettando
He appears to be in good form entering this race but he'll have to show up with the performance that is much stronger than anything he's done to this point in time in order to be a threat; he looks like more of an outsider.
Vagabond Shoes (IRE)
Have to respect what he's done in his two most recent races since being returned from a layoff and he took down a G2 when stretched out in distance in his latest start; interesting to see Espinoza land here as this veteran tries to make it back-to-back graded stakes wins.
Code of Conduct
His overall form has been solid, and he's making his first start for the Miller barn, but he looks like another in here who is going to have to find a way to show up with a much improved performance in order to have a say in the outcome.
Old Time Hockey
He usually shows up and gives it everything he has but his best effort appears to be a cut or two below the top contenders in here; he's been beaten by a few of these in his recent starts and it might be worth noting the presence of Stevens aboard another in here.
Irish Surf
Not going to be surprised if this colt is involved in running through the opening stages, but in a race where the winner is likely to earn the Beyer Speed Figure in the mid-to-upper 90's, his top figure is an 88.
Lucayan (FR)
He's a G1 winner racing overseas, but since finishing a strong second to Obviously in his first start in America, his form has been a little disappointing; he didn't run poorly when finishing second to one of today's rivals in Vagabond Shoes in his latest outing, but feel that a sharper try is needed to win this.
Slim Shadey (GB)
Multiple graded stakes winner has been at his best racing over this turf course and it's worth noting that he recorded one of the sharper performances of his career off of a similar layoff in this event in 2012; although he loses the services of Stevens to another in here, it's interesting to see Leparoux aboard.
Huntsville
You have to go back 14 starts to this day in 2012 to find the last time that he recorded a victory and it's tough to envision him ending that streak against this tough bunch; note that he's been beaten by a number of today's rivals in his recent races.

Race 9

Solemn Oath
Showed some big promise in England in March 2012 when a romping winner there, and he's bred to dirt, too, being by Elusive Quality (sire of G1 Ky. Derby, G1 Preakness winner, champion 3yo Smarty Jones); trouble is, he hasn't been seen since so it's first time in the U.S., first time on dirt, first time vs. winners AND first action of any kind in 19 months, and he's facing some tough customers; working splendidly but as you can see the hurdles are not insignificant.
Ranulf
Love the way he beat maidens at BHP June 16; so what's gone wrong since?; well, a slow start didn't help at DMR July 28 when he ended up 10th as the 5-2 favorite, and then they tried turf and a route there Aug. 31, and that didn't go well either; back to sprinting but it's first time turf and it may be noteworthy that regular rider Garcia today ends up on Baffert's other entrant (Justa Runner) instead, so read into that what you will.
Cast a Doubt
Some good outings on this track, albeit back in the spring of 2012; first 2 tries vs. winners, both at this level, weren't much, but the first came on turf and he didn't run badly when 4th in start No. 2; still, recent regular pilot Talamo ends up elsewhere; do those last 2 show that he simply is going to find 1 or 2 just a bit too tough at this level, hmmmm?
Raised a Secret
Twice SP and when he dropped to face Cal-bred optional claimers at DMR Aug. 21 he took full advantage and won; faces open foes today but he's got quality and comes here sharp; also very nice to see 2 strong recent drills; only 3 dirt tries weren't much but those were also the first 3 starts of his career - he's surely a better horse now than he was then.
Wild Dude
Don't usually like to get suckered in on these big maiden winners facing winners for the first time - they're often overbet and often find this company too tough; that being said, this guy looked super blasting maidens at DMR Aug. 13; didn't just win easy, but did so geared down and got a big Beyer (99); remember, too, that was his first start in almost 11 months so he can surely; great to see Bejarano stay in a race where he likely had options and a good run here last Oct. 7 shows he handles dirt just fine, thank you.
Let's Get Crackin
You have to go back over 2 years to find his last win; that being said, after a year layoff he came back with 2 nice 3rds at DMR in August so there's still gas in the tank; even so, those Beyers (78, 82) leave him a ways behind the major players here but it's also nice to see a sharp guy like Spawr move him UP in value.
Gladding
Once upon a time would have humbled these; OK, so he's not that horse any longer but a good 3rd at DMR Aug. 1 and solid 5th in the G3 Longacres Mile Aug. 18 show he's still some fire in his belly; you have to go back to July 2012 to find his last win, when he was able to clear off early routing; well, we're sprinting today and the other speed in here means he likely has to play from off the pace, and even in his heyday that wasn't his favorite tactic.
Justa Runner
Off the smart maiden win at BHP July 11 (92) Beyer Baffert thought enough to send him to SAR; alas, he caught slop, first time vs. winners, and wasn't a factor; returns to SoCal and Garcia, who was up for those first 2 big outings climbs back aboard, which is also nice since Garcia also rode Baffert's other entrant in here (Ranulf); nice to see no drop and that big :46.20 work here Sept. 24 bodes well; if he returns to his maiden-winning performance he can be scary, but it's first time on fast dirt and that's no small 'if', is it?
My Slew
Love, love the way he's going; won 2 of last 3, the lone loss being a 2nd beaten just a neck at DMR Aug. 25; then went to BSR and blasted some nice Cal-breds; sure, that's BSR but note previous strong work over this track and the versatility to give rider Gomez options.
Derringer
Comes off a couple tough beats; was 2nd beaten a head for $50K at DMR July 28 (Mitchell claimed him) and then 2nd to the very sharp Keyboard Courage in a race at this level there Sept. 4; obviously comes here sharp and again Mitchell does not risk losing him for a tag; certainly well on this track last winter/spring, and 2 recent works say he's feeling spry.

Race 10

Smart N Dreamy
Sire wins with approximately 17% of his turf starters and dam was unraced; this filly is a 1/2 to G3 stakes placed Sky Dreamer (2-12, 176k, including 1 of 4 turf starts for 45k); she's a little interesting in her turf debut while going out for a barn and rider that win their share of races together.
Cavalla
Her two starts over turf have been a couple of her better performances and she looks like a good fit at this 25-22.5k N2L claiming level; feel that she deserves to be listed among the contenders.
Motivated
Like the effort she showed up with in breaking her maiden at second asking, but she didn't make much of an impression in her first start in Southern California in her latest outing, and it might be worth noting the presence of Leparoux aboard another in here.
Diocesan Policy
Maybe this filly deserves another chance to see what she can do racing over turf but she's obviously going to have to show up with an improved performance in order to have a say in the outcome.
Born Lucky
She's clearly capable of showing up with a performance that is strong enough to make her tough to deal with in this spot, and even though she hasn't been at her best in her two starts this year, it's interesting to see the addition of blinkers and the assignment of Bejarano.
Flashy Dame
Her one start over turf can be viewed in a positive light and she ran that race over this turf course and at today's distance; maybe there's something to be said for the fact that Bejarano pilots another in here, but Maldonado has been riding in good form lately.
Silent Deposition
Her one career win was earned against 5k maiden claimers at TuP and it might be a good idea to make her prove that she can be competitive against competition of this caliber before backing her in a spot like this.
Toppers Sunshine
Feel that she's a little interesting in this spot when seeing what she did the first time she was placed over turf, and although that wasn't a strong field she faced, the 2-3 finishers exited that event to win with Beyer Speed Figures of 52 and 64.
Dolphin Shorts
Sire wins with approximately 12% of his turf starters and dam was winless from five starts, and she didn't make a start over turf; don't want to ignore the presence of Talamo aboard another in here, but this filly has a live look to her in her turf debut with Leparoux at the controls.
Athina Lee
Her turf form has been okay and like the idea of her dropping class for this; she's by a top turf sire and she's a 1/2 to minor stakes placed Slim Pickins (4-20, 98k, including 3 of 7 turf starts for 53k).
Hair On Fire
She displayed some decent form racing over turf earlier in the year and like the idea of her stretching out in distance and getting back over turf for this; note the success that Pedroza has had riding for this barn.
Totally Blonde
Tough to give her a favorable push in this spot based on what she's done in her seven starts this year but she brings some early speed with her and she didn't run poorly the first time she tried turf.
Akiss Forarose
Stakes placed filly has a number of turf starts on her card that are strong enough to suggest that she can be tough to deal with in this spot; it's probably a good idea to keep an eye on her in the event that she draws in.
