Patinack dispersal to be offered at upcoming Magic Millions sale
Australia’s Magic Millions National sale series, which takes place May 27-31 and June 4-7, will include about 470 lots from Nathan Tinkler’s financially troubled Patinack Farm, unless Patinack and its horses are sold in a package deal before then.
Earlier this year Tinkler tapped the Magic Millions auction house and the financial services company Ernst & Young to sell the large racing and breeding operation, including more than 1,000 horses and farms in New South Wales and Queensland.
If they sell as scheduled at the National auctions, Patinack’s 470-horse draft will include Group 1 winners Nechita and Pear Tart and such stakes winners as Kneeling, Longport, Pane in the Glass, and Real Stolle, according to a Magic Millions press release issued Friday.
The group also includes breeding stock, among them the Juddmonte Farms-bred Sadler’s Wells-Rainbow Lake mare Endless, a full sister to 2005 Arlington Million winner Powerscourt and a close relative to Juddmonte’s sensational champion Frankel, and Exceed and Excel’s three-quarters-sister To Be Surprised. The mares also include Trewornan, by Midyan, the dam of two-time Australian Group 1 winner Road to Rock.
The Patinack horses will include 202 racing-age horses (including 101 juveniles), 134 yearlings, 110 broodmares, and 24 weanlings.
The horses will go under the hammer without reserve.
