OBS March: Indian Charlie colt fastest at final breeze session

A colt from the final crop of Indian Charlie turned in the fastest furlong on the second and final day of the pre-sale under-tack show for the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Co. March selected 2 -year-olds in training sale, held Saturday at the Ocala Training Center.

The bay colt, consigned by McKathan Bros., agent, stopped the timer in 9 4/5 seconds for a furlong, making him the only horse at the session to shade 10 seconds.

The colt is out of the stakes-placed winning Carson City mare Moroccan Rose, a half sister to stakes winner Kenathena and stakes-placed winner Roll On Buddy.

Indian Charlie, the sire of champions Uncle Mo, Indian Blessing, and Fleet Indian, died in late 2011.

Ocean Knight, a bay colt by Curlin, turned in the session's fastest quarter, breezing in 20 3/5 seconds. The colt, consigned by de Meric Sales, as agent, is the first foal out of the winning Stormy Atlantic mare Ocean Goddess, a half-sister to stakes winner Libby’s Halo and stakes-placed Mister Alimony.

The OBS March select sale is set for Tuesday, March 11, beginning at 10 a.m. Eastern.
