Meydan: Do It All wires Zabeel Mile

Email

Do It All, winner of an optional claimer at Del Mar last summer, led throughout Thursday’s $250,000 Zabeel Mile at Meydan Racecourse in the United Arab Emirates.

Do It All was listed as a 33-1 outsider with British bookmakers.

Formerly trained by Eoin Harty and now trained by Saeed bin Suroor, Do It All took the lead at the start of the turf race and won by 1 1/4 lengths over Derbaas. Silvestre de Sousa rode Do It All, a 5-year-old Kentucky-bred horse by Distorted Humor.

Dux Scholar finished third, with top contender Viscount Nelson only seventh in the field of 12.

Do It All, owned by Sheikh Mohammed’s Godolphin Racing, was 14th and 11th in his first two starts in Dubai before Thursday’s breakthrough performance.

In the Group 3 Nad Al Sheba Trophy over about 1 3/4 miles on turf, Fox Hunt, the 13-8 favorite with bookmakers, had an ideal trip as a stalker under jockey Frankie Dettori to outfinish Opinion Poll by 2 1/2 lengths. The first two finishers are trained by Mahmood Al Zarooni.

Fox Hunt, a 5-year-old Irish-bred gelding by Dubawi, races for Sheikh Hamdan al Maktoum. Fox Hunt won the Duke of Edinburgh Stakes at Royal Ascot last June and the Group 3 German St. Leger last September.

Fox Hunt and Opinion Poll may return in the newly created $1 million Dubai Gold Cup over about two miles on the March 31 Dubai World Cup program.
