HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. – Life At Ten, making her first start since finishing last in the Breeders’ Cup Ladies’ Classic, finished second, five lengths behind The Isabella Angel, in a $80,100 optional claiming race Sunday at Gulfstream Park.

Life At Ten, with regular rider John Velazquez aboard, contested the pace from the outset of Sunday’s one-mile headliner while sandwiched between Jehan and Musical Romance leaving the backstretch. Jehan continued to hold a short advantage entering the stretch, at which point The Isabella Angel ($13) had commenced her bid from the outside and readily ran away from the leaders through the final furlong. Life At Ten battled on gamely nearing the wire to narrowly edge Jehan by a nose for second. Joanie’s Catch and Musical Romance rounded out the complete order of finish in a scratch-reduced field of five older fillies and mares.

“We had no real plan with her, that's just where she landed,” Velazquez said regarding Life At Ten racing from just off the early pace. “She ran great.”

Trainer Todd Pletcher, who returned to New York earlier this week, was not in attendance. Life At Ten was saddled Sunday by his assistant, Anthony Sciarmetta.
