Keeneland September: Half-brother to Majestic Warrior hammers at $1 million

A half-brother to Grade 1 winner and prominent young sire Majestic Warrior sold for $1 million to bloodstock agent David Ingordo late in the Keeneland September yearling sale’s fourth session on Thursday.

The Medaglia d’Oro colt, named Gold Shield, was consigned by Lane’s End as agent for breeder Kinsman Farm.

The colt is out of the millionaire Seeking the Gold mare Dream Supreme, a two-time Grade 1 winner. She has gone on to an outstanding broodmare career, producing six winners, including three stakes winners, from seven starters. Her son Majestic Warrior captured the Grade 1 Hopeful Stakes as a juvenile. Now a stallion at Ashford Stud, he sired Kentucky Oaks winner Princess of Sylmar from his first crop.

Dream Supreme is also the dam of stakes winners Evolutionist and Crystal Current. It is the family of Grade 1 winner Spinning Round and Peruvian champion Kung Fu Mambo.

Three foals out of Dream Supreme have now sold for an average of $1.62 million. Crystal Current led the group, fetching $3.1 million at the 2008 Fasig-Tipton Kentucky fall mixed sale.
