Selections:
1. Lignite (part of entry)
2. Jody Dream
3. Quiet Success

Analysis:
Not surprisingly, trainer Wesley Ward sent out a runaway debut winner in the meet's opening baby race.  Today, he has the coupled entry of LIGNITE and BARISOFF.  The latter may be the one to beat as Ward seems quite high on her, but Lignite boasts an interesting pedigree and work tab of her own.  By the undefeated Run Away and Hide, Lignite is a half-sister to Backdoor Kenny, who won first-out by five lengths going 4 1/2 furlongs over the Arlington polytrack last year.  Backdoor Kenny concluded his juvenile campaign with an 83-Beyer score in the $85,000 Mountaineer Juvenile Stakes at six panels.
Barisoff's half-sister, Indian Gracey, finished third in the Grade 1 Oak Leaf Stakes going a route of ground.  Expect this filly to show speed if she gets the nod from Ward.
JODY DREAM'S workmate, Larry Zip It, didn't run very well in yesterday's maiden, but this filly shows steady drills since mid-February for Larry Lay. Her sire, Master Command, was a stout performer so Jody Dream may do better with a bit more ground down the road.
QUIET SUCCESS is by an excellent debut sire and the Successful Appeal/Quiet American breeding 'nick' has produced the swift Lunarpal, a seven-length winner of his 4 1/2-furlong debut over Keeneland dirt here in 2004.  Lunarpal won his first four starts including two graded stakes.
BROOK'S DREAM has a win-early pedigree and has a good amount of class in the female family.  She is one of two trained by Thomas Short.  The other, EMMA'S HOLY BEE, has turf bloodlines and they may play nicely over this polytrack surface.
ALL DAY DONNA, a $2,200 yearling purchase, must break alertly from the inside post, but shows bullet drills on dirt at both Riverside Downs and Churchill Downs for trainer John Hancock.
MIZ MARTINI boasts the Mizzen Mast/Gone West breeding 'nick' that has produced several stakes winners.
TIA SILVIA's dam won sprinting, but she may prefer longer distances in the future.
ANGEL SOCKS' sire, Eurosilver, does not do particularly well with juvenile debut runners.  The barn sent out Greengrassofyoming to a runner-up placing at long odds yesterday.

The Play:
Lignite (part of entry) - Jody Dream Exacta
Lignite (part of entry) - Quiet Success Exacta
