Hollywood Park: Eblouissante may run again before racing shifts to Santa Anita

Eblouissante, a half-sister to the great Zenyatta, may run again before Santa Anita opens Dec. 26 if trainer John Shirreffs can find an appropriate first-level allowance for the filly.

Eblouissante, a half-sister to 2010 Horse of the Year Zenyatta and a maiden race winner in her debut last Friday, may start again before the current meeting at Betfair Hollywood Park ends on Dec. 16.

Trainer John Shirreffs said he would prefer to run the 3-year-old filly at Hollywood Park instead of in the opening days of the Santa Anita winter-spring meeting that begins on Dec. 26.

“I’d rather run here,” he said. “We’d like to see that.”

Owned by breeder Eric Kronfeld, Eblouissante, by Bernardini, won her debut in a maiden race over 1 1/16 miles by 4 1/4 lengths. Her next start would be a first-level allowance.

Shirreffs described Eblouissante’s post-race condition as good.

“She was a bit tired, but normal,” he said. “She didn’t look worse for the wear.”

her name means dazzling or sparkling... id say ebby will end up racing at a few diff. places u lucky californians.... didnt sound like shireffs was too thrilled with how she came out of the race... concerning? hope not

Can certainly understand why her connections would want to run her back at her home base. It just makes sense. And if a race fills, let me make a suggestion for those in the Arcadia area that may want to see her in the flesh; drive. Let's see: From Santa Anita Park head southwest on W Huntington Dr toward Civic Center Pl. Hang a right onto S Baldwin Ave and merge onto I-210 W via the ramp to Pasadena and continue to Ca-134. Take exit 13B toward CA-110/Del Mar Blvd/California Blvd and merge onto CA-110 S/State Hwy 110 S. Go on to I-110 S. Take exit 14A for I-105 W toward Lax Airport . Once on 105 W take the Prairie Ave exit and hook a left. Hollywood Park will be on the right #1050. About 35 miles – not too tough. Go see her.

It's real nice to see the connections take their time with her. She looks like she has tons of talent. I wonder why they did not use Mike Smith for her debut.

Did you mean Mike Smith? If so I think that if Ebby and Corey "mesh" John should stick with him. Mike already has too many "irons in the fire" with other firm commitments.

she will run where it is best for HER to run, NOT where it is easiest for you to see her run. put some trust in her trainer.

David, Eblouissante's name is French, which, translated into English, means "dazzling". It's a lovely name with a wonderful meaning.
