The waiting is over for Foiled Again, as Yannick Gingras piloted the valiant 14-year-old Dragon Again gelding to the 100th win of his illustrious career Sunday afternoon at Harrah's Philadelphia. Starting from the pole in the 13th race, Foiled Again made front, and Gingras was able to rate comfortable fractions of 27 2/5, 56 4/5, and 1:25 2/5, with pocket-sitter Perseverant (Joe Bongiorno) pulling from that position nearing three-quarters to take his shot. It was a match race between those two in the lane, but Foiled Again was high-lined home and kept clear, winning by a length and a half in 1:53 flat, with the landmark triumph punctuated by a Gingras fist-pump close to the wire. "Today is a day I will forever remember," Gingras tweeted out. "Foiled Again has given me SO many great memories and being able to win this one with him is beyond special. Thanks old boy for all the thrills." Trained by Ron Burke for owners Burke Racing Stable LLC., Weaver Bruscemi LLC., and JJK Stables LLC., Foiled Again has earned $7,584,018, making him the richest Standardbred of all-time. He was campaigned early in his career by Hermann Heitmann, then was acquired by his current connections in March 2009. Since then, he has entered the pantheon of greats of the sport, not only with his earnings mark, but by the number of gallant and gritty performances he has put forth, including wins in the Breeders Crown, Canadian Pacing Derby, Ben Franklin, and a host of other races.
