Gulfstream Park: Pletcher still evaluating Algortihms after Fountain of Youth scratch
By Mike Welsch
Email
HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. – Trainer Todd Pletcher said it will probably be several days before he knows exactly where he stands with Algorithms, who was scratched from Sunday’s Grade 2 Fountain of Youth due to a splint injury on his right front leg.
Pletcher said he discovered the injury Saturday, but didn’t know until Sunday morning the severity of the problem.
“We noticed it yesterday, and at the time, I was hoping he’d just rapped himself and he’d be fine by today,” Pletcher said. “We took him out and trained him this morning, but he just didn’t train like himself. The area was still hot and irritated and looked like a genuine splint.”
Pletcher said he was able to treat Algorithms with anti-inflammatory medication once scratching the colt from the Fountain of Youth and that he would be taken out of training for the next few days.
“We’ll try to cool it out and then assess the situation in a few days,” Pletcher said. “We still have lots of options left for him, if everything turns out all right.”
Algorithms is perfect in three career starts and easily defeated reigning juvenile champion Hansen in the Grade 3 Holy Bull here last month. He was expected to go postward the favorite in the 1 1/16-mile Fountain of Youth. His defection left a field of seven in the Fountain of Youth, including Pletcher’s undefeated Discreet Dancer and Breeders’ Cup Juvenile runner-up Union Rags.
Constantly suspending trainers, in the form it will read previously trained by, but, there isnt any penalty...the whole industry is cheating...the jocks, the trainers and the agents thats who is running it if we were allowed to water board em the truth would come out..however, big money game so sssshhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...

You think Pletcher uses drugs? Wait until they catch Baffert, that's if they want to catch him. He probably could suppy a CVS pharmacy for a year. The industry tends to sweep things under the rug when it comes to their "Golden Boys", and Baffert certainly fits that bill, even thouigh his hair is white.

One trainer is getting most of the good young stock and he is running most of it into the ground. Come Derby Day the majority of his Triple Crown stock have already peaked and its all downhill from there. There's a difference between Dutrow and Pletcher, Dutrow's methods have resulted in more positives. Pletcher's methods result in more illnesses and infirmities. It's interesting how liver problems are one of them.

pletcher will eventually get caught with alll the illegal drugs he uses on horses n i have to say most of pletcher horses dont make it past 4 years old...personally he is the worst trainer for ur horse ...

SO GLAD TO SEE UNION RAGS CRUSH PLETCHER TRAINED HORSES. NOTHING AGAINST THE HORSES THEY ALL DESERVE THE CREDIT. PRETTY SURE THE ONLY BULLET HE HAS THIS YEAR IS EL PADRINO AND HE BETTER AVOID MARK VELESKI IN LOUISIANA DERBY AND RAGS IN FLORIDA. TODD.... GO TO NEW YORK WHERE ITS SAFER FOR YOUR COLT. THE WOOD LOOKS EASIER. HOPE ALL IS WELL FOR ALGORITHMS

Algorthms was one of my Derby picks, sorry to see this injury, wonder if may be the outside from banging the stall? Will take some time tho, hope to see him again later this year.
Had Union Rags tho so that is good.

Pletcher pretenders. Discreet Cat can't get the distance. Go Leparoux!

MONCLOVA galloped out strongly after closing belatedly in her second trip postward May 26, from which the runner-up exited to graduate with a 68 Beyer. The daughter of Queen's Plate winner Niigon is bred to run long, and can break through with the stretchout from six and a half furlongs to a mile and a sixteenth. BE MIND PHIL is returning on short rest off a closing second in her debut, going a mile around one turn on the grass. She has a blend of speed and stamina in her pedigree.
