Two-time champion female sprinter Groupie Doll delivered her second foal, a filly by reigning two-time leading sire Tapit, on Monday at Timber Town Farm near Lexington, Ky.

Both of Groupie Doll’s foals are by Tapit. Her first foal, a colt delivered last March, arrived ahead of his due date and spent a significant amount of time at Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital near Lexington, where the staff was able to nurse him back to health before returning him to Timber Town. Groupie Doll showed no ill effects following that delivery and before being bred back to Tapit.

Groupie Doll won the Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Sprint in 2012 and 2013 to earn divisional Eclipse Awards for both seasons. The nine-time graded stakes winner retired with earnings in excess of $2.6 million.

She was a $3.1 million purchase by Mandy Pope at the 2013 Keeneland November breeding stock sale, part of a major spending spree as Pope built up a powerful broodmare band over the last several years. She also landed Horse of the Year Havre de Grace for $10 million at the 2012 Fasig-Tipton Kentucky fall select mixed sale; Kentucky Oaks winner Plum Pretty for $4.2 million out of the 2012 Keeneland November sale; Betterbetterbetter for $5.2 million at the 2013 Fasig-Tipton sale; and Speed Succeeds for $1 million at the 2013 Fasig-Tipton sale.
