Golden Gate: Hidinginplainsight's Camilla Urso win shows Gilchrist still has touch
By Chuck Dybdal

Though retired as a trainer, Greg Gilchrist is still involved in horse racing.
Gilchrist, who trained Eclipse Award winner Lost in the Fog, picked out Camilla Urso winner Hidinginplainsight for the Blinkers On Racing Stable, paying $80,000 for her in a 2-year-old sale at Timonium, Md., in 2011.
Gilchrist said he liked the filly based on her looks, stride, and breeding.
“She didn’t have the fastest work,” Gilchrist said.
Hidinginplainsight is by the graded stakes winner Elusive Quality and is the first foal out of seven-time stakes winner and $840,000 earner Hot Storm.
“I like that sire, and the mare is really good,” he said.
Trained by Mike Puype, Hidinginplainsight had won only once in nine starts entering the Camilla Urso, although she had hit the board seven times.
Scott Sherwood, who manages the Blinkers On Racing Stable, said: “She never doesn’t show up. She shows up every time. She’s had some tough luck and lost to good horses.”
◗ Everyone at the track Sunday, St. Patrick’s Day, has a chance to win $100,000 for throwing a ringer in a horseshoe pitch. Ten fans will be selected via a drawing, and a ringer will bring the thrower $100,000. There is no payoff if no one throws a ringer.
Greg Gilchrist, I think you R one of the greatest trainers to ever train horses in northern California!!! I look forward to following you in your capacity in the horse racing industry! Let's go "Greg"!!!

A super runner-up comeback by TRIBAL CHATTER stamps the maiden filly as the most probable winner on the card. Returning from a 10-month layoff, she finished nearly nine lengths clear of third in a highly rated maiden-40. Now meets an apparently modest cast of state-bred special-weights, and switches to turf. No problem. She was sired by all-surface stallion Tribal Rule; her dam produced California Cup Mile (turf) winner Swift Winds. Blinkers on, speed for a pressing trip, pick-six single first leg of the sequence.
