Exaggerator wins last year's Delta Downs Jackpot. Last Saturday, he finished second in the Kentucky Derby.

The Grade 3, $1 million Delta Downs Jackpot for 2-year-olds at 1 1/16 miles will be run on Nov. 19, the Vinton, La., track announced Tuesday. Exaggerator won the race in 2015, and went on to capture the Santa Anita Derby and run second in the Kentucky Derby.

The Jackpot is the second richest 2-year-old race for Thoroughbreds in the country, according to Delta Downs. It has produced 14 starters for the Kentucky Derby and has traditionally carried eligibility points for the 3-year-old classic at Churchill Downs.

Delta again plans to run the Jackpot on an afternoon card and the race will be supported by a number of stakes, including the Grade 3, $400,000 Delta Downs Princess for 2-year-old fillies. The Jackpot and Princess will be part of a pick four that will have a guaranteed pool of $200,000. The sequence also will include the $250,000 Delta Mile as well as a race to be determined.

“The Jackpot Day program has become one of the most important in the country each year,” Steve Kuypers, vice president and general manager of Delta, said in a release. “The event brings top-notch horses, jockeys, trainers and horseplayers together for an afternoon of fierce competition, and our team is ready to put on another great show this November.”

Last year, the Jackpot card was worth $2.2 million. Delta has not yet announced its stakes schedule. The track is in the midst of a meet for Quarter Horses.
