SPOT PLAYS/LIVE LONGSHOTS

Del Mar Race 4, (6:40 ET)

First 2 starts weren’t all that hot for TRIBAL MYSTIC (#6, 6-1) but he had trouble in each. Bejarano takes the call and there are 2 smart recent works to encourage including a strong 3f move here July 18 (:36, 2nd fastest of 23 at that distance that day).-Michael Hammersly

Del Mar Race 6 (7:40 ET)Craig Dollase is 7-for-13 the past year with first-time starters including two special-weight debut winners last summer at DMR. Dollase starts TACIT APPROVAL (#1, 6-1) in this 2-year-old maiden filly sprint. Bob Baffert trains likely underlays FASCINATING and SPRING MOON. -Brad Free

Del Mar Race 7 (8:10 ET)

Ky-bred TIZ TEE TIME (#6, 12-1) who was good enough to win for this same $40k tag at OP this winter does find a more demanding spot here, but Autrey may’ve found a clever spot after the brief regrouping following the unsuccessful crack at the G3. Price should be right; 2-time synth winner could really come out firing fresh. – Marty McGee

Del Mar Race 7 (8:10 ET)

Been waiting to back FLOATING FEATHER (#4, 8-1) at a price, first off the claim by Jeff Mullins from a low-percent outfit. ’FEATHER won twice on this track last summer and is listed at a juicy 8-1 on the pre-scratch morning line. -Brad Free

VULNERABLE FAVORITES

Del Mar Race 8 (8:40 ET)

Though she is the class of this G2 turf race, IOTAPA (#2, 3-1) is not bred for grass. Her sire Afleet Alex gets 9 percent turf winners, little on her dam’s side suggests a turf move-up. For the good filly Iotapa, green is not necessarily good. Color her vulnerable.- Brad Free
