SPOT PLAYS AND LIVE LONGSHOTS

Del Mar Race 4, (6:40 ET)

BONITA STAR (#6, 4-1) has shown dramatic improvement over her last two starts, first with a third at Hollywood and then with a clear-cut second at Del Mar against similar; ample speed in the lineup to set up her rally. - Byron King

Del Mar Race 6, (7:40 ET)

COSMIC HEAT (#5, 8-1) Have to assume former connections weren't happy with that DQ from the N2L race last out, but the folks who claimed him get benefit of being able to run him right back for the same beaten condition, albeit at a slightly higher price. Steady running style strongly suggests he wouldn't mind these two turns at all, so it’ll be up to Agapito to get this guy to relax early before firing his best shot. Normally high-percent barn is primed to win a few at Dmr before long. – Marty McGee

Del Mar Race 6, (7:40 ET)

FRENEMY (#6, 4-1) was very wide and no factor here July 21 but that came vs. much more expensive and after 2 months off. He now has that under his belt, drops a couple pegs and gets Bejarano and 2 strong August works including a bullet say he's feeling spry. - Michael Hammersly

Del Mar Race 7, (8:10 ET) - LIVE LONGSHOT

CIRCA’SGOLDENGEAR (#3, 10-1) is a 6yo but is not exposed in short sprints like this. Broke slowly last out in comeback race he might have needed. Good setup possible. - Marcus Hersh

Del Mar Race 8, (8:40 ET) - LIVE LONGSHOT

Longshot RECLUSIVE (#4, 15-1) debuts for trainer Eric Kruljac, whose maidens generally do better second out. However, Kruljac posted upsets early this year with first-timers Blingismything, $33; Lets Get Frisky, $43.40; and Tiz Molly, $50.60. Price play. - Brad Free

VULNERABLE FAVORITES

Del Mar Race 4, (6:40 ET)

PAWN SHOP (#1, 5-2) fits on form but is at a disadvantage shipping from NoCal; additionally, her stronger Beyer Speed Figures have come on turf and dirt – not on synthetic tracks; no experience over Del Mar's Poly. - Byron King

Del Mar Race 6, (7:40 ET)

UNBRIDLED GIANT (#8, 5-2) figure to take considerable money after some good prior work and today's big class drop. But they don't give anything away out here so it may be risky business to take a short price on a horse Baffert is suddenly willing to part with for just $25K after some good spring form. - Michael Hammersly
