Email

DEL MAR, Calif. - There is a pick six carryover of $442,700 for Sunday at Del Mar after the bet proved too difficult to hit for the second consecutive day on Saturday.

An upset win by Cook Inlet ($35.80) in Saturday's 10th race clinched the carryover on a tough card of races.

Sunday's program features nine races and begins at 2 p.m., Pacific. The pick six covers the fourth through ninth races. The pool of new money is likely to approach $2 million.

The pick six sequence includes a sprint for $14,000 claimers over 6 1/2 furlongs, a starter allowance for fillies and mares over 1 1/16 miles on turf, the Grade 3 Rancho Bernardo Handicap for fillies and mares over 6 1/2 furlongs, a maiden race for 2-year-old fillies over 5 1/2 furlongs, the $100,000 Solana Beach Handicap for California-bred fillies and mares over a mile on turf, and a maiden claimer over 6 1/2 furlongs.

The shortest price on the morning-line of the pick six races is Winding Way at 2-1 in the Rancho Bernardo Handicap. Trained by Carla Gaines, Winding Way, 3, won her first two starts and makes her stakes debut in the Rancho Bernardo, which drew a field of seven.
