Crist shows significant improvement

Email

Steven Crist, the editor and publisher emeritus of Daily Racing Form, was in stable condition on Saturday and has shown significant signs of improvement, according to family members.

Crist, 57, suffered cardiac arrest last Sunday at his home in Long Island and was admitted to a local hospital in critical condition. He was upgraded to a stable condition after undergoing a successful surgical procedure on Friday, and he spent part of Saturday night watching the replays of the Blue Grass Stakes and Arkansas Derby earlier in the day.

Crist, the author of several popular handicapping books and an autobiography, was part of a group that purchased the Form in 1997. Crist stayed on as editor and publisher emeritus after the group sold the company.

Crist co-founded the Racing Times, a competitor to the Form, in the early 1990s. He was also a vice president of the New York Racing Association from 1994-1996.

Well I'm glad Steve is rounding back into form. All the negative comments on here though about DRF's pricing structure make me a little sad for horse racing though. Are these the kind of people that follow the sport? I assume they are just trolls paid by competitors or with too much free time but still.... what kind of person would use this article as the forum for either of those pursuits? It makes me glad most article are DRF+. I am starting to wish they all were.

It's a shame that the only information I come to drf.com is an update on Steve's condition. You guys ought to try tripling your prices. You'll make even more money (from those who don't know dollar a day alternatives abound).
