Race 2

Curlin 5 for 58 with debuters; sire didn t race at 2, won a ton Grade 1s as a double Horse of the Year, banked over $10 million; dam was unraced; family is solid; all 7 siblings won; Baffert should have a nice handle he trained this gal half bro Midnight Lute, the BC Sprint winner and over $2.6 million earner; bullets in holster; long gone?
Miss nearly shocked at 25-1; dam was unraced; several multiple race winners in the family including Grade 1 winner and over $1.1 million earner Dream of Summer; would have liked to have seen a local start.
She's a Minx
She was inching toward the winner but note the wraps were on after taking 2012 off; would be careful before taking too short a number this time.
Nickels Wild
Beyers are going in the right direction; stakes placed 2 for 14 dam earned over $125K; two of 3 sibs won including stakes placed near $130K earner Cinco de Mayo Mio; should have her sea legs under her by now; respect.
Wasted At Midnight
Connections thought enough of her to try the stakes last year; drills are well spaced coming to this fray; place horse in last took an N1X and the winner repeated in a Grade 1; SP 3 for 8 dam banked $65K; 3 of 5 sibs won, one banked about $85K; she has trained steadily for this.
Miss could have been intimidated by the rail in the debut; SP 2 for 21 dam banked over $100K; both sibs won, they are a combined 3 for 32 and banked about $80K combined; barn can get them set off the layoff.
The Magic Stone
Malibu Moon has hit with about 14% of his debuters in a 679-horse sample; sire graduated in second start at 2 at 5 furlongs on dirt for only win in 2-race career; dam just one for 11; both sibs won thrice including stakes winner and near $250K earner Street Life; she looks fit enough.
Humor Me
Youngster did everything but get unsaddled in the debut; Grade 3 placed 3 for 8 dam earned about $85K; lone half sis to race lost 6 times; both Bafferts obviously live.
Inside Scoop
Cherokee Run has hit about with 9% of his debuters in a 637-horse sample; took debut at 2, won multiple Grade 1s races including the BC Sprint in 1994; dam lost 3 times; several multiple race winners in the family including Clearly a Queen, who took multiple G3s and banked over $500K; legged up on the conventional, could need one.

Race 3

Tiz Snazzy
Switches surfaces in his local return after failing to offer much at a big price in his first crack at the level; number he earned in the synthetic score 2 starts back is light of what the better runners in here bring to the table and the pace doesn't look to do him many favors; passing.
Curly Top
Earned solid numbers in each of his 2 route tries with winners after returning from the time off; colt did face short fields in each of those starts and note that though he's hit the board in each of his 5 career starts, his maiden score came the lone time he tried dirt; gets a switch to a top pilot but his last out rider opts to side with the barn's other runner in this heat; consider.
Fast Track
Gelding hasn't done much of late and it's been a long while since he's seen the winner's circle; winless at the trip, he didn't do much in his lone local spin and doesn't appear to be a serious threat in this spot; siding with others on the win end.
Planet Sunshine
Five year old was pretty good here last year and he ran big in the statebred stake first time out this season; beaten chalk took a step back on the stretchout last time and he's been stuck in this condition for a while now, but he usually fires a good shot and is working like he's set to move forward; contender.
Holy Candy
He's been idle since failing to take to the lawn on Opening Day here last summer but did run pretty well in stakes company over synthetic footing prior to that; gray has been working regularly and well of late for an outfit that has gotten off to a good start here and the pilot named does know him well; he's run well fresh in the past and his best fits here, but have to think he'll be better next time.
Barn's second runner in here just missed at 3-10 in his first with winners and now he'll stretch out to 2 turns; his SW dam's 4 wins all came going long so don't think the new trip will pose this guy much trouble; expecting he'll be close from the bell and the outfit hits at a nice clip second back from the break; one to beat.
Speedster yielded late after making all the pace from the fence in his Hollywood finale; he'll probably again find himself on the front end but he's had his stamina issues and in less than ideal circumstances this trip may be pushing the envelope a bit for him.
God Of War (BRZ)
Fresh gelding fought every step of the way on the front end while beating Golden Gate entry level allowance runners in his return to the main track; field's lone local winner has proven he does need the top for his best and that should benefit him from this draw, but don't know that he's as good as some of these; exotics threat.

Race 4

Time for a J
Upgraded in the latest work at five-eighths; his sire won a G3 and 150K overall; progeny of Time to Get Even have won 2 of 10 debuts; the dam won 2 of 15 and 67K; this is her only foal to make it to the races.
Dubai Ruler
Offspring of Tribal Rule, who won 2 of 4 starts and 77K, have scored in 45 out of 338 initial starts; the dam won 3 of 29 attempts and 125K; winning siblings include 168K bankroller Ruler of Dubai.
Adds blinkers after a vastly improved second run when dropping down to the claiming realm; his sire, a pure turf runner, who won a G3 and 423K; the dam went zero for 8; winning sibs include 87K earner Musical Grace.
Newcomer hails from Onebadshark who netted 218K and whose descendants have won 4 of 20 initial races; the dam went 3 for 19 earning 34K; winning siblings include 68K earner Chicsdigtheshark.
Better Bet
He earned a personal best Beyer in the latest placing but confronts a host of untested runners here; work tab this month is on the mild side but he maintains a veteran rider in the irons; mixed signals.
Tribal Mystic
See Dubai Ruler, above, for same sire information; the dam involved was unraced; among the winning sibs is 138K earner Distant Image; this colt upgraded significantly in the latest blowout and did not have a smooth trip in either start.
Johns Journey
Beginner turned in a promising half-mile drill recently; his sire won at the G1 level capturing 1.73 million (progeny of Good Journey are 7 for 66 as far as winning their first test); the dam won 2 of 7 and 16K; sib to 74K earner Belle's Big Boy.
Respectable first run when rallying belatedly; his sire won multiple G1s and 3.18 million; the dam went 3 for 19 earning 218K; winning siblings include 444K earner Luckarack; worth some follow-up today.
Tribal Again
Rallied after the fact in his maiden voyage; see Dubai Ruler, above, for same sire stats; the dam involved won her only race and 9K; winning siblings include 78K earner Jana Gail; may be chasing softer fractions today.
Progeny of Papa Clem, a G2 type who captured 1.12 million, are thus far zero for 4 first time out; the dam went zero for 3; among the winning sibs is 11K earner Tiz Heat; despite this outpost, deserves respect because of the connections.
Takem by Surprise
Adds blinkers after flashing decent early foot first time out; his sire won a G3 and 285K in total; the dam won 2 of 13 and 50K; winning siblings include 270K earner Tap Tap I Win; interesting item if drawing in from AE list.
The Mad Hungarian
New face in this crowd was sired by G1 Dixie Chatter who garnered 464K (his descendants are zero for 8 thus far in debuts); the dam won 1 of 11 and 67K; winning siblings include 69K earner Ore Pass.
Go First
Aimed too high in that second venture after a brave first run in May; his sire won multiple graded stakes and 715K; the dam went 1 for 17 earning 49K; sib to 11K earner's Jack's Gone; dangerous if somehow making it to the starting gate.
Testify Under Oath
Beginner was sired by Whatsthescript who banked a million dollars including a G2 tally (his descendants are zero for 1 in debuts); the dam went 5 for 24 earning 176K and this is her only foal to compete.

Race 5

Soul Candy
Have to acknowledge that this is a tough spot for him to land in, but this stakes winning gelding appears to be on top of his game right now, and he has run races over turf in the past that are strong enough to suggest that he can run with these.
Holladay Road
Tough veteran has shown the ability to run his race over any surface and like to see that he was geared up for a sharp try in this event a year ago; feel that he's eligible to give a good account of himself today and Garcia has won with 6 of 19 (32%) mounts for this barn in 2013.
Grade 2 winner might be at his best going a flat mile but he's not to be ignored after running well in his first start back from a layoff in his latest outing, and the winner from that race was entered in the G1 Eddie Read here on Saturday.
Lucky Primo
Multiple stakes winner usually shows up and runs his race and he finished third in this event in 2011; he will have to be careful to avoid an early pace dispute, but going to look for him to be involved in the running throughout while turning back in distance.
Starspangled Heat
Not that he's been bad in his route attempts during his career, but he does appear to be best as a late running sprinter, and this has to be considered a tough spot for him to stretch back out in distance; winner from latest returned to win next out at BHP on 5/19 going 6f over turf vs. alw. rivals with a 95 Beyer.
Summer Hit
He was claimed for 12.5k from his career debut and he's done little wrong in life while winning seven of 11 starts, including three of five turf starts; he enters this race fresh off of his first graded stakes score, and Bejarano has won with 34 of 75 (45%) mounts for this barn in 2013.
Risky Reward
His connections had to be pleased with the sharp winning performance he showed up with in his latest outing after needing more than a year off, and although it might be a sign of confidence that they make this the next step for him, he finds himself in a very tough spot.
Rock Me Baby
He's yet to show us that he knows how to run a bad race but a case can be made for this stakes placed gelding being better off racing over a synthetic surface than turf, and it is going to take a top try from him if he's to see his number posted on top.
He Be Fire N Ice
He's one of two signed on in here for the Sadler barn and he does appear to be going better than ever entering this race; however, a career best effort will be needed to get the better of this field; third place finisher from latest returned to win next out here on 7/17 going 1 1/16m over turf vs. 62k OPC's with an 88 Beyer.

Race 6

Tacit Approval
Progressive improvement to her work tab this month; her sire won a G1 and 557K in total; descendants of Tapit have scored in 49 out of 397 debuts; the dam won 6 of 12 and 413K; among the winning siblings is 23K earner Punch Drunk.
My Lady's Holiday
She turned in a fair showing first time out from the fence; her sire won multiple G1s and 3.63 million; the dam involved was unraced and this is her only foal to make it to the starting gate; should be an early presence at the least.
Gracie Ragazza
Newcomer hails from G1 type Eddington who captured 1.21 million and whose progeny have won 11 percent of their initial starts; the dam won 1 of 16 and 89K; there are no winning siblings to highlight.
Elite Eight
Beginner was sired by the prolific Malibu Moon hwo won 1 of 2 and 33K (his descendants are 96 for 679 as far as winning their first test); the dam won 5 of 28 and 206K; winning sibs include 258K earner Trainee.
Offspring of Distorted Humor, a G2 winner who notched 769K, have scored in 119 out of 714 initial starts; the dam was without victory in 16 attempts; sib to graded stakes winner Rule who won a total of 1.16 million.
Our Glitter Ball
A slow getaway cost her any realistic chance first time out but she has since worked strong; her sire won a G1 and 464K while the dam was zero for 4 lifetime; sib to 120K earner Offlee Wild; worth some following up if the price is right.
Southern Sunshine
Some very upbeat workouts are on view; her sire won 464K including a G3 tally; descendants of High Cotton are 11 for 67 in the first-time victory department; the dam was unraced; winning sibs include G3 type Den's Legacy who won 405K.
Sired by Smart Strike, a G1 winner who captured 337K and whose offspring have won 110 out of 759 debuts; the dam won 2 of 4 and 243K; sib to G1 victor Bodemesiter who compiled 1.3 million; playable.
Loan Savant
Her sire won 1.13 million including G1 success; descendants of Spring At Last have done well first time out, winning 10 of 52; the dam won 1 of 12 and 49K; winning siblings include 134K earner Treadmill.
Spring Moon
Cross-reference the works with Fascinating, the other Baffert trainee in the field; the filly's sire won a G1 and 669K; progeny of Zensational have won 1 of 4 debuts; the dam never raced; sib to 206K earner Sway Away.
Miss Lafayette
Bred for this trip as the sire is Breeders' Cup Sprint Champion Midnight Lute who banked 2.69 million (whose offspring have won 6 of 76 initial attempts); the dam won 8 of 33 and 196K; sib to 79K earner Bach Hamilton.
Fashionably Rich
The grey's sire was a G2 type who netted 583K; descendants of Old Fashioned are zero for 3 as far as winning their first test; the dam was zero for 2; winning siblings include 107K earner M.J.s Commander; nice blowout on 7/7.
Wired for Fun
Much trouble in the most recent test following a brave placing the time before (which also involved traffic woes); she should be able to stay within range if somehow making it to the starting gate today; most recent workout was average, however.

Race 7

Chapman's Peak
High-percentage 1st-off-the-claim trainer adds to the appeal; projects to sit just off the speedy Wiredfortwotwenty before getting 1st run on the closers; tough beat in last vs. Gutshot Straight getting a positive 2-pound weight swing for the rematch; the show runner from last posted an 87 Beyer speed figure in his next-out BHP-optional claiming win.
Seems the one to catch; 3-5 odds-on defeat in last on dirt posting his lowest Beyer ever; last synthetic start was a fade in 2009; big class drop for a high-percentage fresh trainer who is 0-for the last-12 first-time out with newly-acquired runners; beat the 2-back show runner who Beyered 87 in a next-out HPO-30K stakes win.
Figures to work out an ideal trip saving ground stalking a hot pace from the first 2 posts; could not find the passing gear in last and would need a much-improved effort to take this; won his last 2 DMR starts and one of those wins represents a career-best Beyer; the 2-back winner repeated in a BHP-optional claimer with a 95 Beyer.
Floating Feather
Claimed off an 0-for-13 barn by a high-percentage 1st off-the-purchase trainer; the winner from last repeated with a 92 Beyer taking a BHP-32K claimer while the 5th-place finisher Beyered 82 in his next-out DMR-20K claimer; has been working well for this; figures to sit midpack then make 1 run.
Projects to press the pace wide of Wiredfortwotwenty; middle moved in latest with his best Beyer and all 3 wins on fast main tracks but races on synthetic for this; lone race at DMR saw him finish behind Hadfunlastnight; off latest others appeal more.
Tiz Tee Time
Figures to stalk inside speed then hopes to come up big in deep stretch; the runner-up finisher from last Beyered 108 in his next-out BHP-Grade 1 stakes victory; last win was on the lead with a career-best Beyer at much longer and on dirt; has raced well from off the pace although last 2 synthetic-surface starts have produces races far off his best form.
Last 3 synthetic-surface starts were in stakes races including a Grade 1; big turf victory in last right off the bench and his last synthetic win was for a higher price tag than this; was on the lead in last but today projects to sit midpack then make one run; the 2-back winner repeated in a BHP alw. with a 95 Beyer.
McKenzies Way
Projects to trail the field early then hopes the speed falters late; best Beyer was posted on dirt but last win was on synthetic way back in 2011; the runner-up finisher from last Beyered 94 in his next-out SA-optional claiming win; 2010 DMR-synthetic graduate at 5.5F in his 2nd-career start.
Projects to sit mid-pack then hopes the speed falters in deep stretch; capable-long layoff trainer off his lowest Beyer since his November, 2008 career debut; the winner from last finished 5th in a Grade 1 stakes next out with a 97 Beyer; the 4th-place finisher from last Beyered 84 taking an FPX-optional claimer; he beat the 8th-place finisher a 95 Beyer next-out BHP alw. winner.
Gutshot Straight
PIcks up 2 pounds off latest win which was 1st off the claim while posting his best Beyer since March, 2012; his 2011 DMR win was at 6F in a 25K claimer; figures to work out a good trip stalking the inside speed; beat the show runner from last who Beyered 87 in a next-out BHP-optional claiming triumph.
Figures to race far back early then make 1 run; the runner-up and 6th-place finishers from last Beyered 95-81 in next-out BHP alw. wins; lone DMR race represents a show finish but a career-best Beyer at today's distance; 1st-time with the all-time win rider seeking his 1st win since the March 2012, diploma earner on wet dirt at longer.
High Test
Hopes to save as much ground possible from this wide impost noting his 2-back win is when he began from post 2; wish he showed more run previously at Del Mar when screaming out for more distance; the 3-back show runner Beyered 86 in his next-out SA alw. win.

Race 8

Unusual Way
She's had a little time to get over the winning effort over statebreds in her turf debut up North and Baze comes down here with her; she'll face graded stakes foes for the initial time, but the inside draw should help her secure a good spot early in a field that doesn't contain a lot of early lick; contender.
She's yet to finish worse than second and has been quite good against top company on the main track this year; filly will step on the green for the initial time in this spot and she isn't bred particularly well for it as her sire gets 6% winners from his first time surface runners and the dam was winless from 3 cracks over the footing; class makes her a player, but don't know that she's going to love the new surface.
Lilbourne Eliza (IRE)
Wasn't beaten much by some of these in the G3 Senorita 2 back at Hollywood before showing improved lick from an outside draw last time; she'll switch to a top turf pilot for this and with little other speed signed on while moving towards the inside maybe they choose to send her again; they may have to catch her to win.
Wishing Gate
Ships back into the venue of her second out maiden score after making short work of allowance runners in her Arlington finale; filly worked well here earlier in the week and she has won a couple of times on the green, but she'll catch a tougher set than she's used to facing in this spot.
Miss Empire
She's been idle since the G1 Starlet at Hollywood in which she has little to offer; G1 SP filly did take a Golden Gate stake in her first turf try and maybe the return to the footing helps for a sharp return outfit that has gotten off to a quick start at the local stand; she's working well but still have to think she'll be better with this one behind her.
Lightly raced runner found some trouble in the 9 panel stake at Hollywood last time but was right there at the finish at this trip 2 starts back; she's got the positional foot to sit a good spot early and she has had a work to get acquainted with the local turf course; maybe for a minor share at a decent price.
Judy In Disguise (GB)
Adds the hood for her local debut after coming up short from a wide spot on the stretch back out and Bejarano gets aboard for this one; she's got ability and she certainly likes the lawn, but have to wonder whether she's better suited to turf sprints than she is to this trip.
Charlie Em (GB)
Took a step back on the stretchout in her second stateside stakes try at Hollywood after showing some ability in the G3 Senorita score; she's been working regularly in the interim for this and the cut back to this trip does figure to help in her local debut; gets another new pilot but a bounce back type of try makes her a player.
Foxy Boss
Runner up in her last 2 with older allowance runners tries graded stakes foes for the first time in this spot; winner of her last returned to score with an 89 Beyer; she's certainly been a better filly since moved to the green earlier in the year and her pilot sticks with her for this one; moves towards the outside for this but is worth a look at a price.
Disko Dasko (FR)
Draws the outside slot for the stretch back out after sharpening her lick sprinting at Hollywood; given a clean start the barn's second runner in here should again be prominent from the bell, but don't know that she'll be able to clear from here and a wide run won't help her move forward; siding with others.
Broken Sword
AE adds shades for the step up to the stakes ranks if she gets to go in here; she's improving and does have a right to be better second time routing, but she'll have her work cut out for her against this classier bunch from out here; just watching if she gets in.
