ETOBICOKE, Ontario – Princess Elizabeth Stakes winner Clickity Clack hopes to double up in the Wednesday night feature at Woodbine, the $125,000 South Ocean Stakes for Ontario-sired 2-year-old fillies over 1 1/16 miles on Tapeta. Clickity Clack won the Princess Elizabeth Stakes on Oct. 29. Trainer Tony Gattellaro said the way Clickity Clack came out of the Princess Elizabeth led him to run her right back in 17 days in the South Ocean instead of waiting for the $125,000 Ontario Lassie Stakes on Dec. 3. “I was just kind of leaving it open and she’s heading into the race in good shape, so I decided to enter her,” he said. Clickity Clack prevailed over Avie’s Mineshaft in a stretch battle under jockey Rafael Hernandez to win the Princess Elizabeth, which was her first start around two turns. Gattellaro praised Hernandez for the ride and said the jockey was supportive in the decision to run back in the South Ocean. “I was real thrilled with the last performance,” Gattellaro said. “I thought Rafael Hernandez deserved a lot of credit for that. He rode a hell of a race. Any time you have a young horse on the inside coming down the stretch, to see the horse prevail and gallop out on top, you’ve got to get excited about that.” Key Contenders Clickity Clack, by Silent Name Last 3 Beyers: 60-57-56 ◗ The victory in the Princess Elizabeth was Gattallero’s second stakes win as a trainer.
