Catalog for Equine Sales Co. of Louisiana October auction now online

The catalog for the 2017 Equine Sales Co. of Louisiana open yearling and mixed sale is now online, featuring 195 horses on offer.

The auction will be held Sunday, Oct. 15, in Opelousas, La., beginning at 10 a.m. Central.

This year’s auction will open with a 73-horse yearling portion, followed by 122 mixed offerings. Among the mixed offerings are 84 broodmares or broodmare prospects, 31 weanlings, six juveniles, and a stallion – Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf winner Nownownow, a 12-year-old son of Whywhywhy.

“We had a very good select yearling sale in August, so I think that momentum will continue with this one,” said sales director Foster Bridewell. “This catalog has something for everyone in all price ranges, and we expect to have some new buyers who couldn’t make it to our last sale due to Hurricane Harvey.”

Stallions whose first crops of yearlings are represented in the catalog include Amanecer de Oro, Apriority, Guilt Trip, Itsmyluckyday, Palmy Bay, and Sum of the Parts. Spendthrift Farm resident Medal Count has a weanling from his first crop in the catalog.
