Barretts releases The Paddock Sale at Del Mar catalog
Barretts' Sales and Racing's catalog for The Paddock Sale at Del Mar is now online, currently featuring 27 horses with the potential for more as the sale draws closer.
The single-day sale will take place Sunday, July 21 in the paddock at Del Mar, about 20 minutes after the last race on that day's program is declared official - which Barretts officials projected to be around 6:30 p.m. Pacific. Physical copies of the catalog will be available at Del Mar beginning July 19.
Additions to the catalog will be taken through July 16 and will be posted online the following day. Horses will be available for inspection on the 19th during non-training hours in the east side of Barn Y, the barn located closest to the paddock.
Among the offerings currently in the catalog is Indian Winter, a Grade 1-placed, stakes-winning Indian Charlie gelding, who is a half-brother to Grade 3 winner Sindy with an S.
Also entered is Grade 3-placed, stakes-winning Dixie Union filly Oscar Party, who is a half-sister to Grade 3 winner Major Gain. Another entry with graded stakes blacktype is Sweet Red Cat, a Grade 3-placed Bluegrass Cat filly, whose siblings include Grade 2 winner Soul City Slew and Grade 3-placed winner Silent Soul.
Horses eligible for Del Mar’s lucrative “Ship and Win” program, which offers qualified horses an additional 33 percent in purse money plus a one-time $1,000 starter’s bonus, will be highlighted in the catalog.
Held in conjunction with the sale will be a new owner seminar and preview of the paddock sale on July 21, sponsored by the Thoroughbred Owners of California in the Veranda Café near the paddock, beginning at 9 a.m. Pacific.
