Michael Burns Ami's Mesa wins the Glorious Song Stakes by 1 1/2 lengths Saturday at Woodbine.

ETOBICOKE, Ontario – The brilliant Ami’s Mesa kept her unbeaten record intact with an impressive score over a top-notch field Saturday in the $144,900 Glorious Song Stakes at Woodbine.

After starting slowly, Ami’s Mesa ($4.30) raced toward the rear of the field, while She’ll Do It and Calling Rhy Rhy vied through soft fractions in the seven-furlong test for 2-year-old fillies.

Conquest Babayaga made the lead in the stretch after Ami’s Mesa emerged from traffic exiting the turn, and Ami’s Mesa kicked in strongly on the outside to prevail by 1 1/2 lengths in a quick 1:23.43.

Jennifer Lynnette closed to finish a length behind stablemate Conquest Babayaga in third. Calling Rhy Rhy faded to seventh as the 4-1 second choice in the nine-horse field.

The Josie Carroll-trained Ami’s Mesa earned $90,000 in her second start for owner Ivan Dalos, who also bred her broodmare sire, classic winner Victory Gallop.

“I certainly had some anxious moments,” said Dalos. “She didn’t break well at all. She was dead last. I wasn’t sure that she was going to get there, but she has an [awfully good] finishing kick. She did it.”
