Time was, a $138k Pick-6 carryover in New York would have been too high for a one-day carry and too low for a two-day carry. Now, it's what we start with for a triple carryover into today's rain-soaked card at Belmont. After being hit last Sunday, the wager eluded the public on the Wednesday, Thursday and Friday cards. All of today's grass races except the G3 Knickerbocker have been switched to the main track, including 4 of the 6 Pick-6 races, which prompted 30 scratches from the original 64 entrants in races 5 through 10.

Some notes on yesterday's two Super Saturday cards at Belmont and Santa Anita:

12:05 pm: Ten minutes to first post at Gulfstream (yes, if you've been sleeping under a rock lately, they now race at Gulfstream in September, and 11 other months), where I'll be playing the Rainbow 6. It's certainly not due to the quality and importance of the card -- two maiden claimers, three conditioned claimers, and an N1x allowance -- but because there's a mandatory payout of the pool, which begins the day with $123k in the kitty.
