Today's featured Cigar Mile, the last of 10 races at Aqueduct, is the final Grade 1 race of the year in New York and the last until the Carter and the Wood Memorial next April. The Cigar Mile completes a pick-4 starting with a statebred allowance sprint and continuing through the last and longest juvenile graded stakes of the New York season, the G2 Demoiselle for fillies and the G2 Remsen for males, both at a mile and an eighth.

3:40 pm ET: Happy Halloween and Happy Breeders' Cup Friday. Not sure what's going to happen sooner: The first trick-or-treater at the door here on Long Island or the first of four Breeders' Cup Friday races, with the BC Juvenile Turf scheduled for 5:25 pm. I'm betting on a kid in a Frozen costume.

Time was, a $138k Pick-6 carryover in New York would have been too high for a one-day carry and too low for a two-day carry. Now, it's what we start with for a triple carryover into today's rain-soaked card at Belmont. After being hit last Sunday, the wager eluded the public on the Wednesday, Thursday and Friday cards. All of today's grass races except the G3 Knickerbocker have been switched to the main track, including 4 of the 6 Pick-6 races, which prompted 30 scratches from the original 64 entrants in races 5 through 10.
