Del Mar: Sharp debut from Sweet Swap

Sweet Swap, a full-brother to the multiple stakes winner Sidney's Candy, won his debut in Saturday's sixth race, something his brother did not accomplish two years ago.

Sidney's Candy was beaten in his debut, but developed rapidly after that race. Sweet Swap ($4.20) ran 5 1-2 furlongs in 1:03.76, winning by 1 3-4 lengths over Castaway, who closed well to finish second. Joel Rosario rode Sweet Swap, his second win of the day.

Sweet Swap is trained by John Sadler, who trained Sidney's Candy until the 4-year-old was sold earlier this summer and transferred to trainer Todd Pletcher. Sweet Swap is owned by breeder Jenny Craig.
