You can’t grieve equally for every Thoroughbred who dies.  The depth of loss would be too great.  You’d have to run from the sport and never look back. Every loss hurts a little – even if it’s just a name on a forum.  Some touch you more than others - if you've looked them in the eyes, know their connections, were there when they died.  And then there are those who, despite your best efforts to shield yourself, work their way deeply into your heart.  You all know that feeling.
