BOSSIER CITY, La. - A diverse cast of seven fillies and mares will contest the $150,000 River Cities Breeders' Cup on Saturday, the beginning of the Super Derby Festival of Racing XXII at Louisiana Downs.

The likely favorites in the 1 1/16-mile turf stakes are Nanie's Dinner, a two-time stakes winner this meeting on turf, and the Frank Brothers-trained Watch, a recent winner on the Arlington turf.

MIAMI - For the second year in a row, south Florida's unpredictable summer weather has forced the $50,000 Noble Royalty to be switched from the turf to the main track and in the process reduced the starting lineup to a familiar group of five older fillies and mares. The 1 1/16-mile Noble Royalty will match the first three finishers from the Nancy's Glitter Stakes on Aug 25. in which Castlebrook rallied to a two length victory over Coolbythepool with Racing For Pahm finishing a tiring third.

ETOBICOKE, Ontario - Queen's Plate runner-up Win City will prep for the Grade 2 Ohio Derby in the Grade 3, $107,800 Col. R. S. McLaughlin Handicap at Woodbine.

The $300,000 Ohio Derby will be run at Thistledown on Sept. 29.

AUBURN, Wash. - An overflow field of 13 2-year-olds, including a powerful three-horse stable coupling trained by Steve Bullock, has been entered to contest Saturday's 1 1/16 mile, $100,000 Gottstein Futurity at Emerald Downs.

The Bullock-trained entry has quality as well as numbers, as it includes WTBA Lads runner-up Star of Rehaan, three-time winner Moloch and the outstanding filly Ashbecca, who captured the one mile Barbara Shinpoch Stakes against her own sex when last seen on Sept. 2.

VANCOUVER, British Columbia - Secret Bullet and Intuitor will put their win streaks on the line in the feature race at Hastings Park, a $50,000 optional claiming race for 3-year-old fillies at 6 1/2 furlongs.

WINNIPEG, Manitoba - Trainer Chad Torvell swept both divisions of the C.T.H.S Sales Stakes with What Four and Goin N Style. On Saturday he has entered both horses in the Buffalo Stakes here at Assiniboia Downs.

The Buffalo, a one-mile race for 2-year-olds bred in Manitoba, will carry a purse of $35,000 and attracted a field of 10.

What Four enters the Buffalo with a two-race win streak, having defeated a maiden special weight field Aug. 17 prior to winning the fillies division of the Sept. 3 Sales. Tim Gardiner has the mount.

SASKATOON, Saskatchewan - Rob and Jack McDonald's stalwart older runner, Beau Ring, will face just three rivals when he goes in search of his third consecutive stakes win in the $6,000 Finale Handicap.

The 1 1/16-mile Finale is one of two stakes on the card, along with the $5,000 Captain Stanley Harrison Handicap for 3-year old fillies. Beau Ring, a 4-year-old who was a provincial champion in his first two campaigns, won his last two starts, the Fred Mendel Memorial Handicap and the Toon's Mile, by a combined total of 13 lengths.

POMONA, Calif. - Racing lurches onward Friday at Fairplex Park, where the Los Angeles County Fair race meet continues with an unexpected stakes doubleheader, a 12-race card, and an early 12:30 first post that will be in effect through the remainder of the meet.

SAN MATEO, Calif. - Mike and Leo, a 3-year-old who has won three of his last four starts at Southern California, rates top billing in a field of seven in the $32,000 allowance feature at Bay Meadows Friday night.

ETOBICOKE, Ontario-Waltzin' Storm will seek his fourth straight victory while stepping up in class in Friday's Woodbine headliner. A field of 10 will line up in the $80,000 optional claimer, which will be contested at seven furlongs on the grass.

Waltzin' Storm, a 3-year-old Storm Creek colt, first showed promise when he finished a close second while beating Strut the Stage here last September in the Grade 2 Summer Stakes. He remained a maiden after his juvenile campaign, though, and was a beaten favorite in his first two turf outings this year, at Pimlico and Monmouth Park.
