Ochoa remained unbeaten at 440 yards on Saturday when he edged Priceless Feature by a head in the Grade 1, $903,774 Rainbow Derby for Quarter Horses. The purse was the richest in the history of the race, which was run at Ruidoso Downs in New Mexico.

After getting beat 12 straight times, sometimes in allowance company, Good Lord now has won two stakes in a row after rallying Saturday to capture the $50,000 Don Bernhardt Memorial Stakes at Ellis Park.
With Gabriel Saez aboard for trainer Forrest Kaelin, Good Lord came from just off the pace to wear down Noble’s Promise, the 8-5 choice in a field of seven older horses, to prevail by a half-length. It was another three lengths back to Shrill, who had another 2 1/4 lengths on Gold Element.
Class and courage carried Royal Delta to victory in Saturday's Grade 2, $750,000 Delaware Handicap.
Racing over a surface she appeared to be laboring over, Royal Delta, last year's champion 3-year-old filly, held off a late charge from Tiz Miz Sue to win the DelCap by a neck. It was 5 3/4 lengths back to Awesome Maria in third. She was followed by Love and Pride, Darling Reality, Pachattack, and Cash for Clunkers.
OCEANPORT, N.J. - Howe Great opened 1-9 on the first flash of the Monmouth Park tote board on Saturday.
The price “drifted” all the way up to 1-5 by post time for the $60,800 Jersey Derby for 3-year-olds on the turf.
It was money in the bank, all the way.
Perfectly positioned throughout by Joe Bravo, Howe Great took charge at the top of the lane and scored a 1 1/4-length win over Fire Alarm.
Trained by Graham Motion for Team Valor International, Howe Great got his fifth win in nine starts while improving to 4-1-1 in 6 races on grass.
DEL MAR, Calif. - Acclamation is making summertime success at Del Mar an annual event.
For the second consecutive year, Acclamation won the $300,000 Eddie Read Stakes over 1 1/8 miles on turf on Saturday, leading throughout and never facing a major challenge. Acclamation extended his winning streak to seven races, all graded stakes, in the Eddie Read.
“Each race gets a little more nerve-racking,” owner-breeder Bud Johnston said. “It’s very satisfying.”
ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. - Since changing barns and moving to Polytrack this year, the 3-year-old filly La Tia has been unbeatable, and on Saturday at Arlington she jumped from statebred-restricted to graded stakes competition and captured the Grade 3, $150,000 Arlington Oaks by three-quarters of a length over Sky Dreamer.
SHAKOPEE, Minn. – The $50,000 John Bullit Stakes, contested at 1 1/16 miles over a yielding turf course, was an encore for Wild Jacob in front of more than 15,000 fans on Extreme Race Day at Canterbury Park.
Wild Jacob, the 2011 Bullit champion, stalked a quick early pace set by the duo of I’ll Show Them and Dakota Digger under a patient ride by jockey Scott Stevens.
“He needs a solid pace to run at and he got one,” said Stevens.
SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. - After spending the majority of the first year of her racing career on grass, it is probably safe to say Questing is not likely to return to the turf in the foreseeable future.
Benefitting from a perfectly judged ride by her young jockey, Irad Ortiz Jr., and overcoming a little of her own immaturity through late stretch, Questing became a Grade 1 winner with a convincing 4 1/4-length decision over Zo Impressive in Saturday’s $300,000 Coaching Club American Oaks at Saratoga. In Lingerie, the 3-2 favorite, finished a non-threatening third.
Kentucky-based colt Global Power, who earned his first career victory on turf in front-running fashion at Mountaineer Racetrack last month, proved that performance was no fluke when he stepped up to stakes company to score a surprise victory in Saturday’s $100,000 Sussex Stakes at Delaware Park.
The 1 1/16-mile Sussex was the main supporting feature on a card topped by the Grade 2 Delaware Handicap.
