I Spent It, winner of the 2014 Grade 2 Saratoga Special Stakes, has been retired from racing and will stand at stud in 2016 at J. Michael O’Farrell’s Ocala Stud in Ocala, Fla. A fee will be determined and announced later. A 3-year-old son of Super Saver out of Rateeba, by Sky Mesa, I Spent It won 2 of 7 starts and earned $347,640.

Tapit to again stand for $300,000

North America’s reigning leading sire, Tapit, is once again likely to be the most expensive stallion on the continent for 2016, as his stud fee will remain at $300,000 at Gainesway in Lexington, Ky.

The Grade 1-winning son of Pulpit’s book will be limited to 135 mares.

TAA accredits 16 new organizations

The Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance announced on Tuesday that 37 aftercare organizations have earned its accreditation in 2015. That includes 21 organizations that were re-accredited and 16 that were accredited for the first time. There are now 56 accredited TAA organizations using more than 180 facilities across the United States and Canada.

Lea arrives for stud duty at Claiborne Farm

Lea finished second to Liam's Map in the Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile on Friday.

Grade 1 winner Lea, the runner-up Friday in the Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile, on Monday arrived at Claiborne Farm in Paris, Ky., where he will stand at stud for the 2016 breeding season for a fee of $12,500. He will be available for inspection starting Wednesday.

Curlin's fee boosted to $100,000

Two-time Horse of the Year Curlin, who enjoyed an outstanding season with his progeny this year, will get a major fee hike to $100,000 for 2016, Hill ‘n’ Dale Farms announced on Monday.

The son of Smart Strike stood for $35,000 in 2015 at Lane’s End Farm, where he began his stud career in 2009. He moved to Hill ‘n’ Dale, which bought an interest in him earlier this year, in the fall.

Stephanie's Kitten, winner of the Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Turf, has been sold privately to Northern Farm in Japan.

Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Turf winner Stephanie's Kitten was sold privately to Northern Farm of Japan on Monday after failing to meet her reserve at the Fasig-Tipton Kentucky fall selected mixed sale a day earlier.

The 6-year-old mare drew a high bid of $2.95 million at the auction, failing to meet her reserve of about $3 million. Northern secured the mare with a private offer of $2.8 million.

“A bidder last night came back and made another offer, and we accepted it,” said Jeff Ramsey, son of owner Ken Ramsey.

American Pharoah settles in at new home

Triple Crown winner American Pharoah took the short van ride to his second career on Monday morning, arriving at Coolmore’s Ashford Stud in Versailles, Ky., where he will begin stallion duty next spring.

Coolmore acquired the breeding rights to American Pharoah earlier this year before his Triple Crown run. The 3-year-old son of Pioneerof the Nile concluded his career with a 6 1/2-length victory in the Breeders’ Cup Classic on Saturday at Keeneland, his eighth Grade 1 score at as many different tracks for owner and breeder Zayat Stables.

By Unbridled’s Song, the 4-year-old Liam’s Map has won 5 of 7 career starts, including a 4 3/4-length win in the Grade 1 Woodward Stakes on Sept. 5 at Saratoga. Trained by Todd Pletcher, he will be making his fourth start of the year in the Oct. 30 BC Dirt Mile.
