Grade 2 winner Pants On Fire retired to stud

Pants On Fire, with Paco Lopez aboard, wins his 7-year-old debut in the seven-furlong Sir Shackleton.

Pants On Fire, a stakes winner in each of the last five years, has been retired from racing and will stand at stud next year for a fee of $5,000 at Glenn and Becky Brok’s Diamond B Farm in Mohrsville, Pa.

Pants On Fire raced six seasons, all for owners George and Lori Hall and trainer Kelly Breen. He won 11 of 35 starts and more than $1.6 million. Pants On Fire went out a winner when he scored a repeat victory in the $100,000 Wild N Wonderful Stakes at Charles Town on Sept. 19.

After 32 years of the Breeders’ Cup, the patterns of sire lines and female families of the race winners are well established. The Northern Dancer and Mr. Prospector male lines will dominate, and Bruce Lowe female family No. 1 will provide more winners than any other female line.

Simon: Keeneland proves Breeders' Cup can thrive where it all began

If rain comes to Keeneland this week as is forecast, the turf course could be rated soft for the Breeders' Cup races.

When John Gaines came up with the idea for the Breeders’ Cup, he started by organizing meetings in Lexington, Ky. This was for a number of reasons, not the least being that Lexington is the heart of the Thoroughbred industry, and local breeders and stallion owners were being asked to fund the effort in its entirety, with a collective commitment in excess of $10 million required just to get the inaugural running held.

Adena announces 2016 fees for its 19 stallions

Adena Springs on Friday announced the 2016 stud fees for its stallions standing at its farms in Kentucky, Ontario, and Florida. Awesome Again leads the way with a fee of $75,000, followed by Ghostzapper, who will stand for $60,000. Both stand at Adena Springs Kentucky in Paris, Ky., and have the same fee as in 2015.

Adena has three other stallions at its Adena Springs Kentucky farm – Macho Uno ($15,000, down from $20,000), Mucho Macho Man ($15,000), and Point of Entry ($25,000). The fees for Mucho Macho Man and Point of Entry remain unchanged from this year.

Rockridge Stud announces 2016 fees

Rockridge Stud in Hudson, N.Y., on Friday announced stud fees for the 2016 season for its eight stallions. Veteran sire Posse, third on the general sire list of stallions standing in New York, will have a fee of $5,000, the same as in 2015. Giant Surprise, a son of Giant’s Causeway and the leading first-crop sire standing in New York, will have his stud fee doubled from $2,500 this year to $5,000 in 2016.

Kitten's Joy stud fee staying at $100,000

Ramsey Farm in Nicholasville, Ky., announced on Thursday that the stud fee for its leading sire, Kitten's Joy, will remain at $100,000 for the 2016 breeding season. 

Kitten’s Joy, a 14-year-old son of El Prado, is fourth on the general sire list and is the sire of Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Turf winner Stephanie’s Kitten and course record-setter Big Blue Kitten in 2014.

Triple Crown winner American Pharoah will stand for $200,000 in his debut season at Coolmore’s Ashford Stud, making him by far the most expensive new stallion in recent years – and moreover, one of the more expensive stallions in North America.

Airdrie Stud announces 2016 fees for its stallions

Airdrie Stud in Midway, Ky., announced the fees for its eight stallions for the 2016 breeding season, and Majesticperfection tops its list with a fee of $20,000. Majesticperfection, whose oldest foals are 3 this year, is the sire of Kentucky Oaks winner Lovely Maria among his four stakes winners.

Calumet Farm announces 2016 roster and stud fees

Calumet announced stud fees for the 2016 season for its 16 stallions, at its main location in Lexington, Ky., as well as its regional stallions. Stallions standing at stud at Calumet for the first time in 2016 are Real Solution, Americain, Grey Swallow, Eye of the Leopard, and Aikenite.

Lane's End sets stallion fees for 2016

Honor Code is scheduled to ship to Keeneland on Monday.

Lane’s End announced stud fees for 15 stallions at its Versailles, Ky., location for the 2016 breeding season, with first-year stallion Honor Code standing for $40,000 and fellow first-year stallion Liam’s Map standing for $25,000.

Candy Ride will stand for $60,000, highest of all the Lane’s End stallions and the same fee as he had this year.
