Kant Hurry Love gets rematch with Hot Fudge in Correction Stakes

Kant Hurry Love finished second by a neck to Hot Fudge when the two met in the Garland of Roses.

A neck separated Hot Fudge and Kant Hurry Love on Dec. 9 in the Garland of Roses Stakes, and those two mares are set to meet again Saturday at Aqueduct in the $100,000 Correction Stakes.

The six-furlong dash for older fillies and mares drew a field of eight light on accomplishment. Only Hot Fudge has won an open stakes race, and among the other entrants, Kant Hurry Love and Secret Love are the other two stakes winners, with those victories coming against New York-bred competition.

Lane Way comes in fresh for San Simeon Stakes

Lane Way will make his first start in four months in Saturday's Grade 3 San Simeon Stakes.

ARCADIA, Calif. – Turf sprinters on the Santa Anita hillside course will run for a lot more money this fall than the $100,000 offered Saturday in the Grade 3 San Simeon Stakes, but the winter stakes came up deep even if the purse did not.

Nine veterans – eight geldings and a ridgling – will try to establish hillside form in the San Simeon on Saturday, while their connections ponder a lucrative hillside stakes race in September. The purse for the Grade 2 Eddie D will be boosted to $750,000, according to 1/ST Racing.

The Hurricane Bertie will be Red Carpet Ready's first start since July and her first since having minor surgery.

HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. – Red Carpet Ready, winner of the Grade 3 Forward Gal here in rather handy fashion a year ago, has returned to South Florida to launch her 4-year-old campaign Saturday in the Grade 3 Hurricane Bertie Stakes.

The 6 1/2-furlong Hurricane Bertie is the second of two stakes on a card that includes the $100,000 Silks Run, which will feature the 2024 debut of Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint runner-up Big Invasion.

Glengarry nears return to racing

Glengarry in being pointed to one-turn races and could make his 2024 debut in the Lafayette or Bachelor stakes.

Glengarry is gearing up for a return to the races. One of the most accomplished 3-year-olds in training at Oaklawn, he was given some time after his runner-up finish in the $300,000 Springboard Mile at Remington Park in December.

“We’re just kind of getting back going,” trainer Doug Anderson said Saturday. “We worked him Friday. He worked good – just a nice, easy, first half-mile since he’d run. Our plans are kind of up in the air right now. We’ll see how he keeps progressing and go from there.”

While Track Phantom and Hall of Fame worked five furlongs together on March 3 at Fair Grounds, the two Steve Asmussen-trained colts may or may not be racing together March 23 in the $1 million Louisiana Derby.

Midnight Rising bound for Oaklawn Mile

After two successful dirt tries, Midnight Rising will head to the Grade 3 Oaklawn Mile.

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. – Midnight Rising’s connections had wanted to get the 4-year-old on dirt for nearly a year and after two big performances this meet at Oaklawn Park he’s unbeaten on the surface – and bound for stakes action.

Trainer Jordan Blair said Tuesday that Midnight Rising is scheduled to make his next start in the Grade 3, $500,000 Oaklawn Mile on March 30.
