Law Professor will make his first start Friday since May at Oaklawn Park.

OZONE PARK, N.Y. – Following a sale and a last-place finish in a stakes at Oaklawn Park nearly six months ago, Law Professor is starting over in familiar territory Friday in a third-level allowance race at Aqueduct.

Law Professor is your prototypical horse-for-course, having won 4 of 6 starts at Aqueduct. His two losses have come in consecutive runnings of the Woodward Stakes. In 2022 he was second to Life Is Good when the race was still a Grade 1 and in 2023 he finished third behind Zandon in the now Grade 2 Woodward.

Oeuvre is in from Chicago looking for her 18th career win in race 8 at Keeneland on Thursday.

Keeneland’s featured eighth race Thursday, a high-level turf sprint allowance for older fillies and mares, has nothing on the supporting feature, a two-turn dirt allowance carded as race 7.

Restricted to 3-year-olds, the seventh race, at 1 1/8 miles, is for second-level allowance horses or $125,000 claimers and drew nine entrants, including Society Man, an in-form stakes dropper who already has made four starts at the distance.

Gun Song (blinkers) missed beating Thorpedo Anna by a neck in the Grade 1 Cotillion at Parx.

OZONE PARK, N.Y. – There are two opportunities for 3-year-old fillies to win stakes in their own age group this fall at Aqueduct where they won’t have to face the dominant division leader Thorpedo Anna.

The first of those races is Saturday’s Grade 2, $250,000 Mother Goose Stakes at 1 1/8 miles. The eight-horse field includes three progeny of the stallion Gun Runner – Gun Song, Life Talk, and Headline Numbers – and a half-sister to Gun Runner named Pretty Ana.

“We’ll give it a try,” O’Neill said on Sunday. “We’ll see how everything shakes out and take a shot.”

Maiden winner Accuracy earns huge Beyer, allowance race up next

ARCADIA, Calif. – Accuracy, a 15-length winner of a maiden race at 1 1/16 miles at Santa Anita on Saturday, will more than likely resurface in an allowance race in coming months, trainer Michael McCarthy said.

Accuracy earned a Beyer Speed Figure of 108 for her win on Saturday, in 1:42.44. The only filly or mare with a higher speed figure this year on dirt is Thorpedo Anna, who was given a 111 for her second-place finish by a head to Fierceness in the Grade 1 Travers Stakes against 3-year-old males at 1 1/4 miles at Saratoga on Aug. 24.

Pick 5 with $301,896 carryover highlighted by stakes-level allowances

Barbara D. Livingston
Grade 2 winner Intricate will try to get back on track in Wednesday's sixth race at Keeneland.

Keeneland begins its final four-day stand on Wednesday with a carryover of $301,896 into the late pick 5, which runs from the fourth race through the eighth race. Three of those races drew overflow casts at the entry box; the other races have fields of 10 and 12 entrants, respectively; and a pair of allowance-level events that serve as the nominal features have some familiar, stakes-seasoned names, making for some interesting puzzles.
