“She’s okay,” he said. “She reared up when they kicked it and didn’t leave the gates.”

Dubai Racing Club
Senor Buscador earned just shy of $13 million during his career. He scored his signature victory in the 2024 Saudi Cup.

Distance influences decision to run Launch in allowance

Robert Mauhar/Coglianese Photos
Jorge Delgago considered running Launch in a Grade 2 at Gulfstream before thinking better of it.

After considering running Launch in Saturday’s Grade 2, $200,000 Inside Information Stakes at Gulfstream Park, trainer Jorge Delgado appears to have found a better spot for the 4-year-old filly, albeit for far less money, in a conditioned allowance race Wednesday at Tampa Bay Downs.

The six-furlong distance of Wednesday’s $54,500 race 8 was more attractive to Delgado than the seven furlongs of the Inside Information – especially since Launch ran third in the Sugar Swirl Stakes on Dec. 21 at Gulfstream, her first start off a six-month layoff.

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. – Mother Nature pulled a fast one on Banishing, and that’s tough to do.

Banishing was to have stepped up into the overnight stakes ranks for the $145,000 Byerley Turk on Monday, but the entire card had to be moved, as drawn, to Thursday.
