Mo Plex works toward Jim Dandy

Debra A. Roma
Mo Plex won the Grade 3 Ohio Derby by two lengths.

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – Mo Plex, the two-length winner of the Grade 3 Ohio Derby, is likely to make his next start in the Grade 2, $500,000 Jim Dandy Stakes here on July 26 rather than the Grade 1, $1 million Haskell Invitational a week earlier, trainer Jeremiah Englehart said.

“We’re leaning toward the Jim Dandy right now,” Englehart said. “Just race dynamics. Both races, you’re facing quality horses. We also get to stay here.”

Barbara D. Livingston
Mullikin has not won since taking the 2024 Forego.

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The presence of Book’em Danno in next Saturday’s Grade 2, $400,000 Vanderbilt at Saratoga may alter the expected field somewhat when entries are drawn on Sunday. One horse who is definitely going to face him, however, is Mullikin, who finished second to Book’em Danno in last month’s Grade 3 True North Stakes here.

New Ground should handle distance in Grand Prix de Paris

Megan Coggin
Trinity College breezed to an easy victory in the 1 1/4-mile Hampton Court Stakes at the Royal Ascot meeting.

Six 3-year-olds are entered in the Group 1 Grand Prix de Paris on Sunday at Longchamp Racecourse, but if established form holds, the race comes down to New Ground and Trinity College.

Trinity College figures favored on the North American tote, in great part because he has run two strong races, but also because Ryan Moore rides him for trainer Aidan O’Brien. New Ground figures a more appealing bet, in great part because he’s already proven to stay the Grand Prix de Paris’s 1 1/2-mile distance.

Adam Coglianese/NYRA
Train the Trainer has drawn the rail as he goes two turns for the first time.

Train the Trainer has been a quick study in his short career, coming out of a key maiden race to win his next two starts, including the Mike Lee Stakes at Saratoga.

“I’ve learned you just have to stay out of his way and let him do his thing. He’s very appropriately named,” joked trainer Rob Atras, who took over care of the gelding this spring.
