Coady Media
Glengarry is being pointed toward the $100,000 Dan Johnson.

Some little sisters follow in the footsteps of their big brothers, and Aaron Kennedy and trainer Doug Anderson hope that will be the case with Glengloria.

The full sibling to five-time stakes winner Glengarry runs in Friday night’s $100,000 Prairie Meadows Debutante for 2-year-old fillies at six furlongs. She’s part of a competitive field of 10 that includes maiden winners from Canterbury Park, Colonial Downs, Evangeline Downs, Horseshoe Indianapolis, and Lone Star Park.

Ryan Thompson/Coglianese Photos
Aless Queen will look to breakthrough in Friday's featured eighth race at Gulfstream.

Aless Queen, a 4-year-old filly trained by Jose D’Angelo, has spent nearly a year holding her own against a litany of rising stars in Florida. The statebred gauntlet may finally come to an end in a $43,000 allowance on Friday at Gulfstream Park.

“She’s, in a good way, an unlucky filly,” D’Angelo said. “But she always show up. We like her and we finally seem to be finding the right competition.”

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – Trainer Brad Cox uses words like “confusing” and “frustrating” to describe his Saratoga meet at which, through five weeks, he’s won just four races from 28 starters.

Running She Feels Pretty this weekend in the E.P. Taylor ensures that she will get to race over firm turf.

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – She Feels Pretty, the leading female turf horse in North America, was entered Wednesday in Saturday’s Grade 1, $750,000 E.P. Taylor at Woodbine and will most likely run there instead of waiting for the Grade 2, $500,000 Flower Bowl on Aug. 30 at Saratoga, trainer Cherie DeVaux said Wednesday.

“We had both races open on the table and we were just leaving it up to her to decide which race,” DeVaux said. “She’s training extremely well right now. I just didn’t want to wait too long for the Flower Bowl.”

Mrs. Astor needs best against big field in CTT and TOC Stakes

Benoit Photo
Mrs. Astor has won four of her last five starts, including the Possibly Perfect at 1 1/4 miles last out at Santa Anita in June.

DEL MAR, Calif. – Mrs. Astor is not invincible Friday at Del Mar. At least that’s the hope of bettors and the 10 fillies and mares trying to beat the favorite in the $100,000 CTT and TOC Stakes.

Although she has won four stakes from five starts since relocating to California, and finished second in another stakes, Mrs. Astor did not scare anyone away in the CTT and TOC. If all 11 entrants start, it will be the biggest field for the 1 3/8-mile turf race in at least 20 years.

“It is a way bigger field than I thought it would be,” said Mrs. Astor’s trainer, Jonathan Thomas.
