The Sunday Rainbow 6 will begin on race 5. Lou the Body in race 9 is sure to be singled on a lot of tickets.

With a projected jackpot of $1.25 million, the Rainbow 6 at Gulfstream Park is sure to be a worthwhile endeavor for bettors Sunday. A clear standout in the feature could simplify things, but parsing through five claiming races to complete the bet will inevitably lead bettors into several traps.

In the ninth race, a $12,500 starter/$20,000 optional claimer, Lou the Body is sure to be a single on countless tickets, providing a nucleus for the perpetually challenging wager.

Australian sprint star Asfoora looks for another Group 1 win in the Flying Five

Barbara D. Livingston
Irish St. Leger favorite Al Riffa is using the race as a possible prep for the Nov. 4 Melbourne Cup.

The Australian sprint mare Asfoora has already had a successful second journey to Europe this summer, winning the Group 1 Nunthorpe Stakes at York Racecourse last month.

In 2024, Asfoora won the Group 1 King Charles III Stakes at five furlongs at Royal Ascot, the highlight of a four-race British campaign.

This year’s campaign could be more productive if Asfoora has a successful first trip to Ireland for Sunday’s Group 1 Flying Five Stakes at five furlongs at the Curragh.

Ewing puts Knicks Go in public eye during Keeneland September sale

Ewing works at SAR Sept 2 2025
Barbara D. Livingston
Ewing, from the first crop of Knicks Go, works at Saratoga on Sept. 1. The unbeaten Saratoga Special winner is being pointed to the Breeders' Futurity at Keeneland.

The Korean Thoroughbred industry has long helped to fuel the second week of the Keeneland September yearling sale, which is crucial for the middle and lower marketplaces. Racing in Korea is conducted on dirt due to frequent wet weather, leading buyers representing that country to seek out American bloodstock to build the industry – although at relatively modest prices, as the national government, which regulates Thoroughbred activities, imposed a price limit on imported horses.

Julie Wright
Souper Diva easily wins the Muskoka, a sales-restricted stakes, in August. She comes right back in the Victorian Queen on Sunday.

ETOBICOKE, Ontario – Souper Diva showed up big-time when taking the $200,000 Muskoka Stakes with ease Aug. 24. She’ll try to double up in another 6 1/2-furlong restricted stakes for 2-year-old fillies on Sunday at Woodbine, the $100,000 Victorian Queen.

Souper Diva led all the way in the Muskoka for graduates of Canadian yearling sales, scoring by 4 1/4 lengths, much to the delight of trainer Steve Chircop.

“I wasn’t positive [she’d go] six and a half furlongs, but I was sure she was going to run good because she was working so good,” Chircop said.

Motion doubles up in two of three stakes on card

No Show Sammy Jo wins All Along at LRL Sept 14 2024
Jim McCue/Maryland Jockey Club
No Show Sammy Jo won the 2024 All Along but is winless since while keeping tough company.

Graham Motion has a pair of 5-year-old mares entered in the All Along Stakes, one highly familiar to him and one still rather obscure.

The trainer isn’t sure what to expect from Sirona in her North American debut at 1 1/8 miles on turf, but he has spent the past year trying to get No Show Sammy Jo back in the winner’s circle. A trip to Laurel Park could be beneficial for both horses.

The All Along is one of three $100,000 stakes on the card, which also includes the Laurel Dash and the Sensible Lady Turf Dash.
