So There She Was, who won the $200,000 Remington Park Oaks last month in Oklahoma, and Lemon Zest, who finished second as the favorite, are both under consideration for the Grade 2, $300,000 Mother Goose at Aqueduct, according to their respective trainers.

The 1 1/8-mile race for 3-year-old fillies will be run Nov. 8.

So There She Was shipped in from Santa Anita for the Remington Park Oaks, where she was a 2 3/4-length winner, one start after running second in the Grade 3 Torrey Pines at Del Mar.

Field of Gold seeks redemption in Queen Elizabeth II Stakes

Megan Coggin
As of Thursday, Field of Gold was the 2-1 favorite in the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes and will start from post 14.

A win in the Group 1 St. James’s Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot in Britain in June clinched Field of Gold’s status as one of the finest 3-year-old milers in Europe. A win in Saturday’s Group 1 Queen Elizabeth II Stakes at the same venue can restore his reputation after a disappointing fourth in the Group 1 Sussex Stakes at Goodwood Racecourse in July.

Barbara D. Livingston
Ready for Candy will try for her third straight victory in Saturday's Sands Point at Aqueduct.

OZONE PARK, N.Y. – Trainer Phil Antonacci and his family’s Lindy Farms made a big investment in Ready for Candy, purchasing the then-maiden for $400,000 out of the Fasig-Tipton mixed sale in February. Thus far, the wager has paid off handsomely.

Ragtime has been brilliant but faces strong cast in Raven Run

Ragtime wins Dogwood at CD Sept 202025
Coady Media
Ragtime has won three of her four starts by daylight margins. In her only loss, she was beaten a neck in the Grade 1 Test.

No one would bat an eye if Ragtime showed up in the Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Sprint. Three decisive wins from four starts, a winning race when she took her lone defeat in the Grade 1 Test.

Ascot: Calandagan looks to spoil party in Champion Stakes

Liesl King
Calandagan takes on Delacroix and Ombudsman in Saturday's Champions Stakes at Ascot.

Delacroix and Ombudsman were a neck apart when first and second in the Group 1 Eclipse Stakes at Sandown Park in England in July, and separated by 3 1/2 lengths when the order of finished was reversed in the Group 1 Juddmonte International at York in August.

Consider Saturday’s Group 1 Champion Stakes at Ascot to be the 2025 series decider between the accomplished pair with one important caveat – the French shipper Calandagan is on a two-race winning streak, adores Ascot, and has outstanding credentials of his own.

Lure field all looking to get back in the win column

Benoit Photo
Sumter, winner of the Lure last year, is part of a Richard Mandella-trained duo for Saturday's renewal of the race at Santa Anita.

ARCADIA, Calif. – It’s been a long time between wins for most runners entered in the $80,000 Lure Stakes on Saturday at Santa Anita, which is sort of the point.

The turf mile is restricted to horses who have not won a stakes race this year other than California-bred. This year’s Lure field took it to the extreme. Six of the seven entrants have not won any type race in more than a year, including a veteran gelding who upset the Lure in 2024.

With original Fall Classic a no contest, race will be rerun at shorter distance

Coady Photography
Apprehend clipped heels when the Fall Classic was run on on Oct. 4, unseating jockey Amadeo Perez. The race was declared a no contest.

When Run Rudolf took a commanding lead on the final lap of the 1 3/8-mile Fall Classic Handicap on Oct. 4, he was a few furlongs away from cementing his status as the top older male of the 2025 Hastings meet.

Unfortunately, a few moments earlier, the race’s 2024 winner, Apprehend, had clipped heels with another horse and lost his rider, Amadeo Perez. With Perez unconscious on the course and medics tending to him, the race was declared a no contest and the jockeys pulled up their mounts before the turn for home and basically jogged home.

Turf condition should suit Snap Decision's bid for Grand National repeat

Barbara D. Livingston
Snap Decision is seeking a repeat victory in the Grade 1 Grand National Hurdle.

The text message, summarizing Snap Decision’s condition in advance of Saturday’s Grade 1 American Grand National Hurdle at Far Hills, N.J, went quickly to the point.

“He’s flying,” jockey Graham Watters wrote recently to co-owner Mike Hankin. “We can’t get him anymore ready than he is, great form.”
