OLDSMAR, Fla. - Promising 3-year old Purple Egg got back to serious training Sunday when he worked a quick five furlongs in 1:01.40 for trainer Jane Cibelli at Tampa Bay Downs. The undefeated Purple Egg won his first three outings, including the Inaugural Stakes here on opening day, before being sidelined with a recurring fever.
Stakes winner It's Me Mom, who hasn't raced since September, topped the five-furlong workers with a 1:01.20 move.
EXTREMELY NICE Horse WILL NOT BE READY FOR A Mile 1/4 come the first saturday in May one step at a time.

Would think Cibelli will point the Egg to the Tampa Bay Derby love to see him hook with Verrazano in the stretch and Top 2 finish gets him to the gate on May 4th. He won't hit the futures board until after the TBD a shame he is now in the all other field. Bide your time for a nice price on the Egg

Tampa Bay Cowns? Is this a new track?
|
Purple Egg will not make it to the Kentucky Derby. He's got too far to go and already had a fever ... not life threatening but an indication that he may be fragile.
|
This horse could win the Kentucky Derby.

Hey Racing Secretary at TBD (A. D.) how about a race for "MOM" She comes here every year and has to sit, wait and even beg for "U" to write a race for her - You don't have a problem writing races for J. Ness or J. Cibelli or "Woodman Stables". At TBD it only matters who you know and nothing like a level playing field...Just Sayin'

Why would you give a horse this name? Must be living on a yellow submarine.

Best Bets
BIG JOHN B takes a short drop off the claim and layoff, which could be viewed as a negative, but he has some decent works for this return and he has a decent-sized Beyer edge against this group; tactical speed should help him work out a favorable trip. SKIFFS BREWMEISTER merits respect off that last win and figure, his best yet; dangerous if he's able to take another step forward. BRODY BOY finished off the board in his turf debut but he earned a decent figure despite running 7th there, and he did endure a fairly tough trip; most recent workout at Parx indicates he retains his form.
