Redneck Humor won his fifth consecutive stakes race Saturday night when he darted to a 2 1/4-length win over Toews On Ice in the $55,000 Budweiser Special at The Downs at Albuquerque. It was another head back to Ziptime in third.

Redneck Humor ($3.20) sat about a length off the pace set by Takeit To the Limit, who set fractions of 21.86 seconds for the opening quarter and 44.82 for the half-mile. Redneck Humor overtook in the stretch, and went on to cover 6 1/2 furlongs on a fast track in 1:14.79.

David Lopez was aboard for trainer Justin Evans.

Redneck Humor’s stakes wins have come in consecutive starts, with his streak starting in February in the $75,000 Budweiser Handicap at Sunland Park. He proceeded to capture the $100,000 Bill Thomas Memorial at the track in March, the $30,000 Inaugural in April at SunRay Park, and the $30,000 Arapahoe Park Sprint on May 29.

Redneck Humor races for the partnership of Vanessa Evans, Earl Neugebauer, and K.W. Sharp. Evans, the wife of trainer Justin Evans, delivered twins five weeks ago – a boy, Anderson, and a girl, Addison.

Justin Evans said last week plans are to freshen Redneck Humor for two sprints this fall at Zia Park. The horse has now won 13 of 27 starts and earned $392,720. He is a seven-time stakes winner and a son of Da Stoops.
