Nacho Business not a Fountain of Youth candidate

Kelly Breen said next Saturday's Fountain of Youth at Gulfstream Park will likely not be an option for Nacho Business despite his very impressive performance on graduation day and two subsequent 59-and-change five-furlong works at Palm Meadows.

“He’s only run once so he doesn’t have the experience the rest of them will have in the Fountain of Youth,” said Breen. “And even though it’s tempting we don’t want to rush a young horse like this that we really like so much.”

KENTUCKY DERBY NEWS: Track all the 3-year-olds on the Triple Crown trail

Breen has four top caliber 3-year-olds in the barn he’s trying to keep apart this winter, including Holy Bull runner-up Sweet Ducky, Pants On Fire, who was among the top contenders in Saturday’s Grade 3 Risen Star, and Nacho Saint, who could make his next start in Aqueduct’s Gotham.

“There’s a first-level allowance race in the book on the Fountain of Youth undercard we could try, I might consider the Hutcheson or even go to the Timely Writer and take on Uncle Mo.”
