Race to Urga, ridden by Jose Lezcano, scores her fourth straight victory in the closing-day Wait a While at Gulfstream Park.

HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla.-  Race to Urga capped off an undefeated meeting with an impressive three- length victory over Frontside in Sunday’s closing-day feature at Gulfstream Park, the $70,000 Wait a While Stakes.

Race to Urga entered the Wait a While riding a three-race win streak that included a pair of optional claiming  victories here earlier in the meet. A daughter of Bernstein, Race to Urga  benefitted from a perfect trip under jockey Jose Lezcano, stalking the pace of Frontside while saving ground before easing out and readily drawing clear through the final furlong.

Frontside, an allowance winner at Tampa in her only start of the season, set an uncontested pace but proved no match for the winner. Distorted Legacy rallied from last to finish third in her first start since the Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Turf.

In the Rough, Dancinginherdreams, Ima Soul Miss, and Trip for A.J. rounded out the complete order of finish.

Race to Urga is trained by Christophe Clement for owner Castleton Lyons. She paid $6.40.

“The filly just has so much class. I think she’s going to be a very good one,” said Lezcano. “We had a perfect trip sitting just off the pace and when I asked her she really took off.”
