Preachinfromthedevil has recovered from a bruised foot that caused him to be scratched from last weekend's Gotham.

Preachintothedevil, another New York-bred 3-year-old, has seemingly recovered from a foot bruise that forced him to scratch out of the Grade 3 Gotham on March 5 and is now being considered for the Grade 3, $500,000 Vinery Racing Spiral on March 26 at Turfway Park, trainer Gary Contessa said.

“I want to continue on the Triple Crown trail with him, it makes a lot of sense,’’ Contessa said about the Spiral. “He’s got interesting action for the Polytrack; it’s an interesting spot to go to and it’s a lot of money.’’

Preachintothedevil, a New York-bred son of Pulpit, won the Champagneforashley Stakes on New Year’s Day over the inner track before running third behind Toby’s Corner in the Whirlaway Stakes on Feb. 5.

Preachintothedevil was one of two stakes winners entered for the Gotham, but had to scratch due to the foot issue. Contessa said the foot was “90-percent better the very next day. Foot bruised bruises are like that.’’

Contessa said he had equine hoof specialist Ian McKinlay put glue-on shoes on Preachintothedevil and he will wear those shoes for the first time in the Spiral.
