Stela wins off-the-turf Honeymoon

BOSSIER CITY, La. - Rallying strongly out of the final turn, Stela kicked clear down the stretch to win Saturday's $50,000 Honeymoon Stakes at Louisiana Downs. Shons Secret finished 5 1/2 lengths back in second, two lengths in front of third-place Due to Win Again in the mile and 70-yard test for fillies and mares that was originally scheduled for a mile on the turf before being moved to the main track due to heavy morning rains. The winning time was 1:45.32 over muddy going.

Foxysox runs win streak to four

INGLEWOOD, Calif. - Foxysox extended her winning streak to four with an eventful victory in Saturday's $100,000 .

The final furlong of the Grade 3 Senorita featured as much steering as riding from winning jockey Alex Bisono.

Foxysox ($3.80) ran a mile on turf in 1:35.28, finishing 1 1/4 lengths in front of runner-up Arlene.

Hello Liberty takes Nassau

Going into Saturday's $205,600 , none of the six 3-year-old fillies in the field had won a graded stakes. That is still true for five of them, but Hello Liberty became a Grade 2 winner after chasing pacesetter Win McCool from the start, and wearing that rival down late to score by a neck after seven furlongs in 1:22.65 on a fast main track at Belmont Park.

Win McCool shook loose beneath Richard Migliore to set a fast pace of 22.38 and 44.71 seconds, and maintained a three-length lead in midstretch after six furlongs in 1:09.

Revved Up rolls to victory at Tampa

Revved Up made his 2006 debut a winning one Saturday, when he roared past pacesetter Big Tex in midstretch and drew off to a three-length win in the $75,000 Chris Thomas Turf Classic at Tampa Bay Downs.

Ridden by Eddie Castro, Revved Up settled early, then advanced along the inside after a half-mile, as Big Tex set a quick pace under Manny Cruz. Turning into the stretch, Castro swung Revved Up to the middle of the course, and Revved Up responded, rallying past the leader and drawing away late.

Pimlico: Rock Lobster rallies

Rock Lobster caught leader Extra Bend in midstretch and went on to a 1 3/4-length victory in the $75,000 Woodlawn at Pimlico. The Woodlawn, a 1 1/16-mile turf race for 3-year-olds, was the first stakes win for Rock Lobster ($7.20), a Michael Dickinson-trained son of Mt. Livermore.

Delaware: No problems for Urban Guy

In his last start, the Hansel Stakes at Turfway Park, Urban Guy took himself out of the race when he broke poorly. He had no such problem in the $75,000 Francis "Jock" LaBelle Memorial at Delaware Park, hounding pacesetter City Dweller down the backstretch and taking command turning for home en route to a 1 1/4-length score. Mike'sgood-andtough made a late run for second, with City Dweller holding on for third in the field of five 3-year-olds.

Woodbine: Atlas Shrugs by neck

Atlas Shugs ($9.60) won his second stakes in a row Saturday in the seven-furlong, $150,800 Queenston at Woodbine.

Atlas Shrugs rallied along the inside from last under Corey Fraser to prevail by a neck over late-running Edenwold, last year's Canadian champion 2-year-old. California invader Town Thief edged Hubbert's Peak for third in the seven-horse field of Ontario-foaled 3-year-olds.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - English Channel's tactical speed made him one of the favorites for Saturday's Grade 1, $454,900 at Churchill Downs, but it was his finishing kick and tenacity that made him the winner.

Rating just off slow early fractions, English Channel spurted away to the lead with a sixteenth of a mile remaining and withstood a determined stretch bid from favored Cacique to win the Woodford Reserve by a half-length.
