Lost in the Fog, the 2005 sprint champion, wins the Aristides by 1 1/4 lengths over Kelly's Landing.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Stepping into the Churchill Downs winner's circle after gleefully watching his dream horse run to victory, owner Harry Aleo announced to no one in particular: "The Fog is back."

Indeed, by virtue of his 1 1/4-length triumph Saturday in the $131,450 , a race that snapped his two-race losing streak, Lost in the Fog flashed the form that made him the Eclipse Award-winning sprinter of 2005. Ridden by Russell Baze, Lost in the Fog had a perfect trip, gliding past early leader Exciting Metro and then holding off Kelly's Landing to win the Grade 3 Aristides.

Wait a While waits for no one

ELMONT, N.Y. - Todd Pletcher maintains Wait a While is a better filly on turf than on dirt. Maybe someday he'll get to prove that theory right.

Saturday was not the day, as the , scheduled for the grass, was rained off to a sloppy main track at Belmont. And, as she did here last fall in the off-the-turf Miss Grillo Stakes, Wait a While galloped to an easy front-running victory.

Trenton highlights first of three turf cards

Grass, at last!

The Meadowlands Racetrack hosts the first of three all-turf cards Monday afternoon. First post is 1:10 p.m. for the eight-race program, topped by the $60,000 Trenton Stakes for 3-year-old fillies.

Gates open at 11 a.m. and grandstand admission is free.

It helps to have a spare turf course available in the ongoing absence of a grass course at Monmouth Park.

Monmouth is installing a new course as part of a $30 million overhaul for when it hosts the 2007 Breeders' Cup.

Having once again shown her fondness for her home track by racing to victory Saturday in the $167,850 , Joint Effort may make her next start in the Grade 1 Test Stakes at Saratoga, "but I wish it was here," Romans joked afterward.

Slow-breaking Lord Robyn rallies to win

MIAMI - The backers and connections of Lord Robyn had to be shaking their heads after he turned his head at the same instant starter Bobby Vaughn sprung the latch

for Saturday's $45,000 Blazing Sword Stakes. As a result, the usually swift-footed Lord Robyn broke well behind the rest of the field while apparently losing all chance in the overnight turf stakes.

Equal Opportunity scores over four foes

Only a hard rain in Louisville, Ky., kept Equal Opportunity from running in a grass race Friday at Churchill Downs. Off the turf at Churchill, Equal Opportunity found himself on a van to Arlington Park. Once there, he made short work of just four opponents Saturday in the Awad Stakes, which scratched down from eight horses to five.

Delaware: Fin gets main-track win

Before Saturday, Fin had raced on dirt one time, finishing fifth in a race in Deauville, France, on Aug. 11, 2004. Her second dirt attempt went much better.

Fin, under Ramon Dominguez, ran down favored Dance Fee in midstretch and pulled away to a two-length victory in the $100,000 John W. Rooney Memorial at Delaware, run at 1 1/8 miles on the main track after rain washed it from the turf course. Dance Fee held second in the scratch-shortened field of five, with Little Buttercup third.

Naissance Royale, the favored New York invader, closed widest under Kent Desormeaux to capture the Grade 2, $308,900 at Woodbine.

Ambitious Cat, last year's champion turf female in Canada, finished second at 5-2 after splitting rivals nearing the eighth pole. Kabul, a 38-1 shot, was another 2 1/2 lengths back in third after hitting the front in midstretch of the 1 1/16-mile turf event.

Over a course labeled soft, Black Rock Road set moderate fractions before fading to fourth in the six-horse field. Ballroom Deputy was scratched.
