River Downs: Fisticuff by a neck

John Engelhardt / River Downs
Fisticuff and jockey Jeff Johnston win the $50,000 Green Carpet Stakes for Ohio-breds at River Downs on Sunday.

Thistledown-based trainer Tim Hamm made it 2 for 2 in stakes at River Downs this year when the 3-year-old gelding Fisticuff ($24.80) rallied from slightly off the pace for a neck victory in the $50,000 Green Carpet Stakes for Ohio-breds.

An unexpected factor in the Green Carpet, which was transferred from turf to dirt because of wet conditions, was Tri Uimet, who dumped his rider leaving the gate, ran loose for much of the race, and caused interference to several horses down the backside, including the favorite, Dooze, who eventually held second by a length over Not Broke Yet.

Attima takes Honeymoon BC 'Cap

INGLEWOOD, Calif. - Attima scored her first stakes win in Sunday's $137,150 at Hollywood Park in such convincing style that trainer Julio Canani was baffled on what races to aim for this summer.

The 4-5 favorite, Attima led throughout and was never really threatened, winning by 1 1-4 lengths over Foxysox. Ridden by Victor Espinoza, who gave her only the slightest urging with the whip in the stretch, Attima ran 1 1-8 miles on turf in 1:47.36.
